Will impdb expand from just covering movie, like imfdb?

Post by Chernyi Volk »

Imfdb covers TV, Videogames (what I especially want on impdb), anime (i saw something that anime may eventually come, but the main focus was movies) to even actors that used them. Does impdb plan to cover those? If you do videogames, I will gladly help.

Hi Chernyi Volk and welcome!

It is a very good point that you have brought up. Presently IMPDb have movies and TV productions, including some animated productions and the odd 'anime'. In terms of the animation/anime, as you may have seen on the other threads, these are only really included if it shows aircraft representing real aircraft as oppose to pure fictional aircraft.

Indeed at the moment IMPDb don't cover Video Games although this may be something for the future. Up to and including now the aim has been to get a fully functional site with as much core (movies) content as possible, but as this is progressing really well expansion is possible.

In terms of linking actors to aircraft, I'm personally not sure what value this adds for the time needed to set it up, especially considering the level the site is already at.

I'm glad you brought it up though and hopefully we can get a good discussion going!

Yes, Welcome Chernyi and thanks for posting up! :)

The question we need to ask ourselves is, "Are we more interested aircraft or the stuff the aircraft is featured in." I am not necessarily opposed to the idea, but I think it would have to come after we have caught up with all movies and television shows out there first. I feel we are already making an exception as we slowly start to include animation when it involves aircraft based on the real thing. If we get more requests down the road for other things like video games, it may help with the decision. We are always up for suggestions.

All this being said, I hope you will decide to stick around and that you will find your interests in aviation are stronger than they are in video games.
