The Airspeed AS.57 Ambassador was think from a request of the Brabazon Committee for a twin-engined short-to-medium-haul. Its shape with three low tailfins and a long pointed nose, combined with an upper wing is easily recognizable for a twin piston-engined airliner of 50/60 seats.

Only 23 Airspeed Ambassador were built between 1947 and 1953.
