Fairey Gannet seen in The Farnborough Tragedy.

The Fairey Gannet made its first flight on 19 September 1949. But this British carrier-borne aircraft first intended as an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) airframe later fullfiled tasks of electronic countermeasures and acted as carrier onboard delivery aircraft. The Gannet AEW was a variant of the aircraft developed as a carrier-based airborne early warning (AEW) platform. This airframe was a mid-wing monoplane with a tricycle undercarriage and a crew of three, and a double turboprop engine driving two contra-rotating propellers and was able to fold its wings in a very special way. Produced between 1953 and 1959, the last operational flight occured in 1978.

303 Fairey Gannet were built for ASW tasks and 44 as AEW.

This page lists all films that feature a variation of the Fairey Gannet.
