The Lockheed C-5 Galaxy is a large strategic airlifter built for the U.S. Air Force for transport of large volumes of cargo over intercontinental and for outsized cargo. The cargo hold has full size access at both the nose and tail and can carry a variety of cargo including almost all of the U.S. Army's field equipment. Although no longer in production, existing airframes are being continually upgraded.
