The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar is a medium-long range, three engined jet airliner first produced in 1970. It was the first and only commercial passenger jet to be produced by Lockheed who withdrew from the business shortly after. The TriStar was significant in being the first widebody to feature an advanced autopilot system, especially for landing. Only a handful of TriStars are still in operation in commercial service, however the Royal Air Force operate a fleet of TriStars in the tanker/transport role.
