Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3 seen in Wings of Russia.
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3 was the first fighter built at large scale by this new soviet company. It had been designed from the MiG-1 for high-altitude combat but combat over the Eastern Front was generally at lower altitudes where it was inferior to the German fighters.
A total of 3,172 Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3 of all series have been built in 1940 and 1941.
