The Mitsubishi A5M was a Japanese carrier-based all-metal low-wing fighter aircraft, with a thin elliptical inverted Gull wing and a fixed undercarriage. It was the world's first monoplane shipboard fighter with a first flight done on the 4 February 1935. When the war with the U.S.A. started, it was already mainly used for training duties and saw sometimes action as kamikaze in the late weeks of the war.
A total of 1 094 Mitsubishi A5M were built from 1934.
