When his job teaching Comparative Religion at the University of the Rhondda Valley is terminated Oliver, a committed puzzle addict, decides to seek out Aristotle, a legendary crossword writer. Along the way he teams up Diane Priest, a Police Constable with whom he falls in love, and investigates a cold case murder linked to a conspiracy involving the Farquhar Group. Their investigations take Oliver and Priest across the United Kingdom from Wales to Orkney with them being followed by the mysterious figure of Baxter all the way.

When Oliver and Priest get too close to uncovering the mystery behind the Farquhar Group this helicopter is used to attack them. A man with a machine gun fires at their car causing it to explode. Sequence filmed near Carr Brae by the banks of Loch Duich.
Registration G-PLMF, serial 1962. At the time of filming the helicopter belonged to PLM Helicopters of Inverness who have subsequently been renamed PDG Helicopters.
