Presentation of main part of the Swissair's fleet since the origin of the company, with archive footage. Each presentation dates the period of operations by the airplane for the company.

Registration CH-192, c/n 5225. Delivered first to Ad Astra Aero on 01.05.30, converted to Swissair in 1931 when the company was founded by the merge of Ad Astra and Air Basel (Balair). Sold to Ethiopia in 1936.

Registration CH-168, c/n 190. Delivered in US as X12232, to Swissair on 29.03.32 as CH-168 then HB-LAJ.

Registration CH-169, c/n 2202. Delivered in US as X82Y, to Swissair on 16.03.34 as CH-169 then HB-LAM.

Registration CH-170, c/n 53. Delivered to Swissair the 28.03.34 but crashed few month later the 27.07.34 in a forest near Tuttlingen, Germany. Should have became HB-LAP.
Gounded beside the Clark GA-43 listed above, at Flughafen Zürich-Dübendorf (--/LSMD).
Aged 22, Nelly Hedwig Diener was Europe’s first airline hostess.

Registration HB-ITO, c/n 1332.10. Built in USA but delivered by Fokker, parnership of Douglas, as PH-AFK and entered service with Swissair as HB-ITO the 15.02.35. Sold to South African postwar as ZS-DFX for Phoenix Airlines and finally in France as F-BJHR for Airnautic, removed from French register in 1964.
When it was correct to smoke a cigarette in the cabin, even in Switzerland ... those were the times!

On the left, a Fokker F.VII/3m probably from Swissair and on the right a Deutsche Luft Hansa Junkers Ju 52/3m. Might be D-ABAQ or D-ABIK Manfred Von Richthofen used by Georing as travelling aircraft.

Registration HB-IRO, c/n 2054. Delivered on 31.10.38. Swissair's logo but title on the body becomes Swiss Air Lines until 1955. Sold to US in 1955 as N2817D, re-registered N143D with Ozark Airlines then to Academy Airlines in 1967.

Rgistration HB-IRI, c/n 1946. Delivered on 22.06.37. Sold to US in 1955 as N2816D, re-registered N142D with Ozark Airlines.
Douglas DC-4-1009A
Registration HB-ILA, c/n 43072. Delivered to Swissair the 24.11.1946, then went to Balair in 1959.It crashed into a 7000' high mountain after a series of navigational errors by the crew on May 15th, 1960 in Sudan killing all 12 on board.

Registration HB-IBZ, c/n 44089. Sold new to Swissair in 1953, adopting the double red stripes livery. In 1961 the aircraft was transferred to Balair. It was then sold to the Air Force of Zaïre as 9T-TLB and later brokenup.

New red stripe livery with re-branding as Swissair when arrival of the DC-7 in 1956.

First delivery on the 20.04.60.
Sud Aviation SE 210 Caravelle III
Registration HB-ICX, c/n 38. Delivered new to SAS. Was leased and later bought (1965) from SAS by Swissair as HB-ICX. Sold to Catair in 1971 as F-BSRD and later went to China Airlines as B1854.

With the help of the blazon of St-Gallen, it's actually HB-ICC, c/n 30-10-12. Previous Registration N8499H with Convair, delivered to Swissair in January 1962. After beeing retired donated to the Swiss Transport Museum Lucerne. Aircraft still on display there.

Registration HB-IGA, c/n 20116 / 112. Delivered new to Swissair the 29.01.1971. Shortly leased to Air National in basic Swissair colors as LX-SAL. Later sold to TWA as N303TW, later Air Atlanta Icelandic as TF-ABK (leased to). Thereafter Aerolíneas Argentinas LV-YSB and stored in Marana since 1999.
Boeing 747-257B
Registration HB-IGB, c/n 20117 / 126. Delivered new to Swissair the 25.03.1971. Later with National Airlines, OH-KSA, EgyptAir SU-GAK, later sold to TWA as N304TW, later Air Atlanta Icelandic as TF-ABL (leased to). Stored and Scrapped in 1994/1995.

New chocolate stripe livery in 1981. Registration HB-IHH, c/n 46582 / 187. Delivered new to Swissair the 21.02.1975 with Basel-Stadt name. Sold to Northwest Airlines in 1992 as N225NW, then to ATA, where it changed to N706TZ. Later sold to World Airways with same registration. Flew with both red-stripe liveries.

Registration HB-INI, c/n 48008 / 981. Delivered new to Swissair the 01.07.1981. Sold to SAS in 1995 as OY-KII, since 2001 with Aero Republica Colombia as HK-4237X.

Registration HB-IPA, c/n 224. Previously flew as F-WZEA. Delivered new to Swissair the 25.03.83. Later sold to Fedex as N446FE and converted to Freighter.
Notice the 2 Lufthansa's airliners in the background. From there, difficult to be sure, but might the Airbus A310-203.

Boeing 747-357M
Registration HB-IGC, c/n 22704 / 570. Delivered new to Swissair the 19.03.1983. Combi Passenger/ Freight Version. Was Prototype of the 747-300 Series as N6005C. AfterService with Swissair it went to Northwest Airlines as N270BC. A Conversionto full freighter was planned, but aircraft was now stored in Mojave, and scrapped by now.

Fokker 100
Registration HB-IVG, c/n 11255. Ex PH-EZH. Delivered new to Swissair the 21.10.1988. Sold to Royal Brunei Airlines as V8-RB4 in 1996. Since 2000 I-ALPW with Alpi Eagles. At Flughafen Zürich Kloten/Zürich Airport (ZRH/LSZH).
Notice the DC-9 of MD-80 behind it.

Registration HB-IWB, c/n 48444 / 459. Delivered new to Swissair the 30.03.1991. Sold to VARIG the 17/11/03 as PP-VTF. Later converted to MD-11F as N625FE with Central Air Leasing, then Transmile Air Service as 9M-TGP. Last with Fedex as N644FE.
