Lockheed P-38J-20-LO

Several aircraft of the Planes of Fame Air Museum are seen. Most have been bought during the late 1960s or first years of 1970s and eventually to enter the civil registry, often by Ed Maloney.
The P-38 s/n 44-23314 seen here has been constructed in 1944 and modified as a two-seat TP-38J. Around a year later, she became an instructional airframe (September 1945 to 1954). In April 1954, the first civil owner, Jack P. Hardwick, applied to the FAA for registration, and the aircraft became N29Q. After five years in open storage, Ed MAloney bought the Lightning and was able to fly her in 1961. Nevertheless, from 1961 to 1987, the olive drab aircraft was only on static display. Under a new registration (N38BP), a two-year long restoration work occured and eventually she again married with the sky on 22 July 1988. She's now as seen in Forever Young and christened Joltin' Josie and changed to N138AM. She's then starred in Aces: Iron Eagle III. In 2003, she was again painted in olive drab with some little changes from time to time (in 2024, she's SKIDOO 162). LVCDC (talk) 06:31, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
