I agree with you, as far as most of Bristols are in the case 3a, it's better to keep the list that way.Bthebest wrote:I agree with all of Sixcyl's categorisations, except if there is both a unique number and name, these should be included - is this the case for the Aerospatiale and Bristol ones?
Airplanes and Manufacturers Categories

Re: Airplanes and Manufacturers Categories
1) As stated elsewhere by Bthebest, I'm checking Tupolev's production in order to put factory names (ANT-xx) instead user's names.
As I'm afraid that Tupolev ANT-40 would be hardly linked to the SB variants, so are you OK to create this category :
Tupolev ANT-40 (SB)
2) Among Yakovlev's productions, what do you think about a family category for the tactical twinjets melting Yak-25 and Yak-26 and Yak-27 and Yak-28 ?
I know they are quite different but their similar shapes and their very rare appearance in documentaries and even more among movies are the reason to group these aircrafts instead keeping them alone.
If you agree, which one of these title must be used ?
Yak tactical twinjets
or
Yak-25/-26/-27/-28 Family
3)
a - In the coming days, I will switch Ju-52 and Ju-87 to the new categories Ju 52 and Ju 87 so all German aircraft could be correctly named.
The great number of pages will create a temporary state with two categories : the old one and the new one with pages moving from the oldest to the newest, gradually as the work progresses.
b - Please note for all these German aircrafts (products of the 30's and 40's) must be named like this :
Manufacturer (space) Manufacturer_typo (space) Type (space) Variant(dash)subvariant
example : Junkers Ju 87 D-1
4) Always in order to keep the categories easier to use, how to proceed with the pionneer manufacturers ?
Their "flying machines" were often built in a very limited number.
What do you think to group all the triplanes of A. V. Roe in a "triplane family" (for example) ?
4 movies include three types ... not so different (less than the Spitfire family !) ?

Re: Airplanes and Manufacturers Categories
1) not a problem, as you see best.
2) Briefly looking at the history, I would only group -25 and -27 together. The others should have separate categories if appropriate.
3) thanks for your work on this.
4) I'm happy to leave this up to your judgement
