Developed from the North American NA-16 by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) between 1937 and 1939, the Wirraway was a training and general purpose military aircraft manufactured in Australia. Upgrades were a retractable landing gear, a strengthened structure to allow dive-bombing operations and provision for two forward-firing guns. Forty airframes of this first serie were built. Seven other series sometimes with several design changes had followed bringing the total to 755 aircrafts built. Used both by the Royal Australian Air Force and Royal Australian Navy, the type served throughout the war in the Pacific (mainly over New Guinea). After the 1945, the type has continued training flights until 1959.
This page lists all films that feature a variation of the CAC Wirraway.
