The Avro Manchester type 679 was a British twin-engine heavy bomber developed jst before the Second World War, making its first flight on 25 July 1939. Due to lack of directional stability, it had a third fin added to the twenty first airframes but later ones had enlarged tailplane and taller fins and rudders.
