The Yak-15 was developed from the Yakovlev Yak-3 piston-engined fighter by the mount of a Klimov RD-10 turbojet in place of the former powerplant. It was the first of several Yakovlev fighters which share this specific shape as the jet exhaust were roughly speaking under the pilot's seat.
280 Yakovlev Yak-15 were built.
