When the US Navy picks up the Red October's crew, this drops a torpedo into the water, which is detonated before it can hit the Red October (as part of the charade allowing Ramius to secretly defect with the submarine)
Unidentified plane
Passenger airliner
At the beginning of the film, Jack Ryan (who dislikes flying) gets on a night flight to the United States. At the end of the film he flies back to England, finally able to sleep on a plane after being awake for several days. This is likely to be a mock-up film set rather than the interior of a real jet airliner.
