Movie (1953)
French title : Aventure dans le Grand Nord
Starring:
John Wayne (Captain Dooley)
Lloyd Nolan (Captain Stutz)
Walter Abel (Colonel Fuller)
James Arness (Mac McMullen, pilot)
Lost in a snow storm, wings full of ice and with fuel tanks nearly empty, Captain Dooley made an emergency landing somewhere in the Canadian North outback. If all the crewmen are safe and healthy, how do they survive in such winter condition, far away any human activity, without radio link and weak survival kit.
Douglas DC-3
Serial 1048
Christened Corsair, the ill-fated Douglas DC-3 manned by Captain Dooley.
Serial 1045
Douglas C-47 Skytrain
Three Douglas DC-3s are attested acting along a Douglas C-47 Skytrain. Here they are all together.
Consolidated B-24 Liberator
Many crew are near a wall map of the Quebec province, Canada (the head of the standup pilot is near the Charlton Island). Top left, a picture of a Consolidated B-24 Liberator or its transport variant, the C-87.
The script was based on a true story about a C-87 flight lost on 3 February 1943 and the rescue DC-3 which made a safe landing but failed to takeoff from the thick snow.
Another picture but B-24 / C-87 flying in opposite direction.
Various Model Kit
