This is a rare promotional film for New York Airways, "THE SKYLINE ROUTE" that dates to 1962 and features the Boeing Vertol 107 helicopter. At this time NYA offered service to LaGuardia and Idlewild Airport. The film includes rare footage of flight operations as well as images of 1960s New York with its traffic jams, which was the primary selling feature for the Skyline Route service.

Boeing Vertol BV 107-II

Departure from Newark Metropolitan Airport (EWR) for 12mn flight to Idlewild Airport. See discussion tab (1)

Registration N6673D of New York Airways, c/n 3.
Delivered new to New York Airways in June 1st 1962. Crashed on October 14th 1963 shortly after takeoff from Idlewild Airport (now JFK) en route to Newark via Wall Street due to lubricant oil contamination leading to component fatigue.

Same aircraft seen in other films IMPDb: Frequently Seen Aircraft (Rotary-Wing).

Douglas DC-6

On approach to New York International Airport - Idlewild (IDL) from cockpit of N6673D seen above.

Douglas DC-6 from unknown airline.

Note the Douglas DC-4 or DC-6 in the background.

Boeing Vertol BV 107-II

Boeing 707-323B of American Airlines in the background left.

2x Douglas DC-6 or DC-7 in the far background possibly from Pan American World Airways.

Boeing 707-123B

At New York International Airport - Idlewild (IDL), 2 of the type on the right.

Boeing 707-123B of American Airlines.

N6674D taxiing in the foreground. To the right, tail fin of 707-123B already mentioned above.

Boeing 707-323B

By the engine nacelles and lack of ventral stabilizer on the rear, it's a Series 323B this time in the background, therefore the Boeing Vertol BV 107-II on the left isn't necessarily N6675D mentioned above.
