WWII. Fascist Italy has been defeated. American troops enter Naples, under the disenchanted eyes of an Italian aristocratic officer. Ordinary Italians try to survive, American soldiers to make the most of their victory, the film depicting various situations, often gruesome. Based on the autobiographic novel of Curzio Malaparte.
