Ansett Airlines of Australia was the new name given to Ansett-ANA after 1968, contributing to a new image for the company and its subsidiaries that changed their names too, with Ansett Airlines of South Australia, Ansett Airlines of New South Wales, Ansett Airlines of Papua New Guinea, using the same livery scheme and Delta logo on the tail fin.
During the 70's the company continued to purchase medium-haul jets such as McDonnell Douglas DC-9-32 and Boeing 727-200 confirming its rank of one of the two dominant carrier of Australia.
In 1979 the foundator Reg Ansett lost control of the airline when Peter Abeles of TNT and Rupert Murdoch of the News Corp. took control of Ansett, with Abeles taking operational control. By 1981. the company was renamed as Ansett Australia.
