The Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet is a carrier-based multirole fighter and improved variant of the Category:McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. It has all the capabilities of the original Hornet as well as the optional capability to act as a tactical refuelling tanker. The aircraft was initially designed and flown by McDonnell Douglas, but production began after the merger with Boeing. It first entered service in 1999.
