The Sikorsky S-43 was a twin engine amphibious aircraft manufactured during the 1930s and able to accommodate between 18 and 25 passengers. Of the 53 airframes built, five OA-8 were used for transport of freight and passengers by the U.S. Army Air Corps and seventeen aircraft were procured by the U.S. Navy under the JRS-1 type name. Three of them went to Norvegian, Bresilian and Soviet airlines.
