Tatarstan Airlines was founded in 1993 but first flights were only in 1999. This short-lived Russian company was the regional airline of the Republic of Tatarstan based at the Kazan airport. With an average fleet of a dozen medium range airliners, the company did not survived the only crash of its history. The next month, Russia's air transport regulator revoked the operator's license following the investigation's conclusion of overworked and inadequately trained crew.
