Platzer Kiebitz

Prewar scenes of flight training were filmed using a Platzer Kiebitz. The Kiebitz is an ultralight biplane built from plans created by German designer Michael Platzer.

Bücker Bü 131 Jungmann

A number of Bücker Bü 131 "Jungmann" trainers appear as ground props during the opening of the film.

Bü 131s were built under license by various Czechoslovakian companies before, during, and after the war.

CASA 2.111

Heinkel He111s in the film were depicted by special effects models and digitally retouched footage from the 1969 film Battle of Britain.

BOB footage - these post war CASA 2.111s were powered by Rolls Royce Merlin engines and can be identified by the large radiator inlet below the propeller.
