Republic F-84E-1-RE Thunderjet

Seen during the UFO sighting montage.
Serial FS-057 (for s/n 92057) Republic F-84E-1-RE Thunderjet built in 1949 here on duty for the USAF (and wearing the 31st Fighter Escort Wing's emblem), later (from 1951) with the ANG (Air National Guard). Crashed at RAF Manston, England on 18th of June 1952.

Fancy cockpit so different of the tear drop canopy of the Thunderjet ! Loosely inspired (?) by the Convair F-102 Delta Dagger which at the time was just entering service.

Douglas DC-6B of American Airlines.

Douglas DC-3

Scale 1:1 rough model of the nose of the aircraft ... and so a continuity error regarding the DC-6.

Mittlewerk EWM A4 Vergeltungswaffe V2

Two of the sixty-three US launches of captured German V2 between 1946 and 1952.

The twelfth and last launch (February 1955).

Fairchild C-82A Packet

Fairchild C-82A Packet of th USAF.

Curtiss RA-25A-20-CS Shrike

Boeing B-29 Superfortress

This Boeing B-29 Superfortress with side-mounted Lewis guns (!) is called in to protect the fleeing Sky Hook scientists and engages one of the flying saucers in a midair battle before being brought down by the aliens' heat ray.

On the B-29, the machine gun were in turrets linked to an analog computer for remote control by the gunner. Sometimes firing all together by the gunner in the upper position acting as fire control officer.
The stepless cockpit design was full of windows and nothing of this is visible here because the B-29's pilots are filmed ... in a DC-3 "office" !

Boeing QB-17F Flying Fortress

The Flying Saucer's ray hitting the aircraft : reuse of public footage about the Nike/Ajax validation test from 1954. The B-29 is now a target drone QB-17.
Same aircraft in other movies at IMPDb: Frequently Seen Aircraft (Military Fixed-Wing).

The black section is the Flying Saucer's shadow.
