An moviemaking expedition to the remote Skull Island discovers the isle alive with prehistoric creatures, particularly a gigantic gorilla worshiped as a god called Kong by the island's natives. Director Carl Denham captures Kong and returns with him to Depression-era New York, where Kong escapes and runs amok.

After climbing the Empire State Building, Kong is attacked and killed by four of these military planes.
