An overly cautious LAPD detective named Burt Simpson mistakenly believes he has a terminal illness. Deciding he has nothing to lose, he turns from a careful, by-the-book officer into a crimebusting supercop and takes on a dangerous arms cartel, hoping he can get killed in the line of the duty so his wife and son can collective his life insurance.
