Who's Who ?

This documentary focuses on first female pilot and the aeronautical context of the early 20th century. Beyond the aircraft, many figures are mentioned or shown but not always named. Here they are:

(left to right) Orville (August 19, 1871 – January 30, 1948), Wilbur (April 16, 1867 – May 30, 1912) & Katharine Wright (August 19, 1874 – March 3, 1929). Of the seven children, these three are involved in aviation.

Czech pioneer aviator, the first female pilot in Austria-Hungary.

Werner Alfred Pietschker (14 January 1887 in Bornstedt; 15 November 1911 in Johannisthal)

So Melie Beese worked with him but on her flying boat project (or only on the very first steps, not the drawing seen on the screen).

Eugène Lefebvre (4 October 1878 - 7 September 1909)

Eugène Lefebvre fatally accidented in Port Aviation, near Juvisy-sur-Orge (18 km South of Paris, France). He's the first pilot-in-command to be killed in a powered airplane crash (the first death -as a passenger- was Lieutenant Selfridge in 1908; read the main page).

Most often known as (Baroness) Raymonde de Laroche. First woman in the world to receive a pilot's licence (8 March 1910).

Bertha von Suttner (9 June 1843 – 21 June 1914)

Second female Nobel laureate (Peace Prize, 1905).

Charles Boutard and Melli Beese wedding (25 January 1913)
