Why Some Commonwealth Aircraft Wears French Roundel ?
France (and United Kingdom) ordered lots of aircraft from 1938. Some were delivered during the first month of the World War Two. About the NA-64 / Yale, French Armée de l'Air and Aéronavale ordered in 1939–1940 200 and 30 respectively. Of these, 111 had been delivered before France surrendered to the Germans but on mid-June 1940, the order was transfered from France to United Kingdom. Some aircraft were ready to be shipped to France and were just sent to Canada. The vast pressing needs to expand Air Force let to press into service the French aircraft with a minimum of changes ... and roundels were the least problem in a country where ennemy fighters could not fly.
