General Pratt's Glider

Brig. Gen. Don F. Pratt is dead on the very first hours of 6th June 1944 at Hiesvielle into the Waco glider christened The Fighting Falcon. The glider was really reinforced with armor plate for both the general and the crew. Despite manned by the best glider pilot (Lieutenant Colonel Murphy), the overloaded flight was difficult with the jeep and armor and lot of jerricans. The landing was made at high speed and the wet grass led the glider to skid on a long length and eventually hurting a tree. The copilot is crushed, the general has the neck broken, the pilot has the both legs broken and will walk no more before Christmas 1944. The Waco is broken just aft the trailing edge. So if the facts told by the G.I. are true, the scene has lots of unrealistic details. LVCDC 18:50, 23 December 2014 (MST)
