Which Year ? Which Movie ?

Special Thanks to Lucien and Jean-Louis who greatly helped me to ... unidentified this movie !

Background is clearly the Monaco harbor and the Breguet is identified with the course number 14.
So this is the aircraft manned by Henri Brégi who reached the second place during the April 1913 races (Powerplant : radial Salmson 115 ch).
But all data found about this movie read :
"Annoncé dans Ciné-Journal n°225, 14.12.1912
Sortie : Omnia Pathé, Paris, 27.12.1912 au 2.1.1913"
(Advertising on mid december 1912 and first screening at Christmas 1912) (!)

These pictures are taken from a documentary about Max Linder and the speaker tells about Un enlèvement en hydroaéroplane using a Voisin seaplane aircraft and says that Max Linder got his pilot's license in two days (but there is no license at the name civil name nor the artist's name).
In fact, this movie has vanished through the years (*) and editor is using footages of another movie (Le hasard et l'amour), shot four months later and issued three years later !
Many, many thanks to Thierry Matra who told me the real story !

(*) Of the 500 movies directed by Max Linder both in France and U.S.A., only 82 are still existing today.

Max Linder acted for several other "aviation" movie :

  • Max aéronaute (1907)
  • Le voleur mondain (?) : the poster includes a hydrogen balloon.
  • Max dans les airs (1916) ; again with Jules Védrines.

Which ones are missing or those still awaiting a new screening ?
