Air Caraïbes is a French airline and is the regional airline of the French Caribbean which comprises two overseas departments of France: Guadeloupe and Martinique. It was established in 1987 and was taken over by Caraïbes Air Transport in 1998. Two years later, this airline merged with Air Guadeloupe, Air Martinique, Air Saint Barthélémy and Air Saint Martin to form the present Air Caraïbes. It operates scheduled and charter services serving 13 islands in the West Indies. Since 2003, it also operates transatlantic flights to Paris using Airbus A330 aircraft under the Air Caraïbes Atlantique brand for a while (ICAO code and callsign CAJ/CAR LINE). Its operations were further integrated with and operated under the airline codes of Air Caraïbes at a later date. The airline code shares with LIAT.
