Movie (1948)
English title: To the Eyes of Memory
Russian title: Глазами памяти
Starring:
Michèle Morgan (Claire)
Jean Marais (Jacques Forestier)
Jean Chevrier (Commandant Pierre Aubry)
Robert Murzeau (Paul Marcadout)
A small private airplane crashes in the desert, not far from Dakar. It is a miracle that the pilot, Jacques Forestier, and his mechanic, Paul Marcadout, survived, since both were drunk when they lost control of the plane.
The last main action echoes the Air France flight of Contellation F-BAZC on 18 February 1947, a 'new' aircraft with only 360 flight hours.
Vickers Wellington Mk XIII
Registration HZ770. According the screenplay, this anti submarine variant is conducting a Search And Rescue (SAR) mission from Dakar, Senegal.
Maybe HZ359? If so, it's a Mk XI.
Dornier Do 24
40 Dornier Do 24s were used by Aéronautique Navale (French Fleet Air Arm) between 1945 and 1955. Those with a white paint were of Flotille (Naval Air Squadron) 30S (dedicated to SAR duties) or 53S (School NAS). Based in France and so unlikely in Dakar.
Seconds before, among action filmed with the Wellington, a continuity error : this view showing an engine on a high wing is probably filmed inside a Dornier 24.

J 46 on the landing gear door. Maybe F-BBDJ (c/n 42942)? Unsure what 46 would correspond to in that case, maybe a fleet number?
