Cessna 170

Reg. HB-CAN Cessna 170 c/n 18069. On 16 June 1954, took-off at Geneva at 20:30 with two TV-operators as passengers with the films of the soccer world championship Mexico-Brazil to bring them to the studio in Zürich. Crashed en route killing all three on board.

Piper Cub J-3C

Reg. HB-OAV Piper Cub J-3C c/n 12868.
According flightsafety.org, this Piper was first involved in a crash on 17 December 1962, killing the pilot. "The aircraft impacted the ground at approximately 2900m and was destroyed. Due to the inaccessability ot the terrain, the search for the wreckage took some days."
On 26 August 1966, on takeoff, the Piper collied with a landing glider (HB-579). At the controls was Herrman Geiger as monitor of a young trainee. Geiger, 52, did not survive. The trainee and the glider pilot were seriously injured.

Douglas C-53 D Skytrooper

19 November 1946, Douglas C-53 D s/n 42-68846 crashed on the Gauligletscher (Gauli Glacier).
On 24 November 1946, two Swiss military pilots Victor Hug and Pista Hitz succeeded in rescuing those on the plane after landing two military planes on the glacier.

Piper Cub J-3C-65

Reg. HB-OIS Piper J-3C-65 c/n 13208 built in 1944. Seen after a nose over during a snow landing at Dôme du Goûter.
Later on 20 June 1961, the plane nosed over again this time at takeoff resulting damaged at 30%.
The fatal accident occured on 9 July 1971 as the Piper stalled and crashed during an air drop, killing the two on board.

Piper PA-18-150 Super Cub

Reg. HB-OPM Piper PA-18-150 Super Cub c/n 18-5307 built in 1956. Crashed on takeoff from l'Ar du Tsan plateau at 12h30 (00:30 PM). The 180 meter-long runway (ok the same day in the morning for just the pilot) was actually too short with two people on board and a warmer, less slippery snow. The too slow Piper jumped off the cliff (2200m above sea level), clipped the top of a tree, then rocks, and crashed into the fir trees, where he remained suspended (80 meters under the plateau). Two seriously injured.

Reg. HB-OBV Piper J-3C-65 c/n 12232 built in 1944. Fatal accident on 19 July 1965 while towing a glider by nice weather. Just after the release, the Piper entered a turn and hit a pylon. The 65-year-old pilot died. The autopsy revealed extensive arteriosclerosis of the coronary vessels.

Bell 47J

Reg. HB-XAU Bell 47J c/n 1426 built in 1957. Crashed on 11 June 1971 into fjord at Fiskenaess, Greenland (despite actually owned by Heliswiss still with this registration).
