The Heinkel He 51 was a German single-seat biplane which was produced in a number of different versions. It was initially developed as a fighter, and a seaplane variant and a ground-attack version were also developed. Once the monoplane became the LA standard, the He 51 was used for training until the end of the Second World War. It was a development of the earlier Heinkel He 49, very similar in shape (the length of the fuselage was the main difference, virtually undetectable to the eye). About 700 aircraft built.
