The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-27 shares the basic airframe of the MiG-23 but with simpler air intakes. In order to fullfil mainly the for air-to-ground attack role and being an efficient fighter bomber, the lack of a powerful radar led to a revised nose with a dual laser-television sighting. In India, the last major Air Force using the type, the aicraft is to be retired of the front line service before the end of this decade.
A total of 884 Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-27 of all series have been built.
