In 1977, skyjackers abduct Lufthansa Flight 181, subsequently involving Germany's special operations unit GSG 9 to free all the hostages.

Boeing 737-2B6

The aircraft involved in Lufthansa Flight 181 was 737-230C registration D-ABCE, c/n 20254/230, named Landshut. Footage of actual airframe can be seen the in the documentary That Was the Year: 1977.
While this airframe was still extant at time of filming, it was in commercial service in Brazil with airline TAF Linhas Aéreas.
Rather than filming in Brazil, the filmmakers instead rented 737-2B6 registration CN-RMI, c/n 21214/449 from Royal Air Maroc, who kept the airframe maintained for training purposes at the now-closed Casablanca–Anfa Airport, and repainted it in Landshut's colors.
