Rodman is a bioscientist developing an anti-Alzheimers drug who adopts a baby chimp, Caesar, and raises it as part of his family. However, when the Rodman's father is threatened, Caesar comes to his aide and ends up attacking another human being. Rodman is forced to place Caesar with animal services who abuse him, and many others. But with his superior intellect due to the genetic effects of the drugs, Caesar forges links with the other apes, who overthrow the handlers and break out of the facility to terrorize the city.
