Airframe Identifications

A helpful Warbird Information Exchange thread on the specific airframes used in this film can be found here.
Note that the thread also posits that only 4 Corsairs were used in filming and that F4U-4B N240CF did not participate. I'm unsure what to make of this as there are numerous photos online of N240CF painted as "205" as seen in the film. Corkeyandpals (talk) 22:44, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

Shapes are different between the AD-4 and the AD-4W ; so we have two possibilities:
1) this is not the AD-4W given by warbirdinformationexchange ... and lot of Skyraiders could fulfill the role;
2) if it's really N4277N, a heavy digital editing has been done (see the lack of the teardrop canopy at https://www.aerialvisuals.ca/AirframeDossier.php?Serial=51217 ). So a CGI tag is required;
F4U Corsair :
N240CF painted as "205" as seen in the film : Warbirds are living by the fruit of their attractiveness. This last one could be uprated by a new paint sheme to clone one seen in a movie or to celebrate a day of remembrance. So was N240CF acting or just has been paint "as if" ? I'm confident the Skyraider is N4277N as reported in multiple sources. Behind-the-scenes photos of it on set can be found here and here and footage here. So the canopy must have been digitally modified when it appears. Regarding the fifth Corsair, having now looked through a lot of behind the scenes footage myself it does seem that only four were used... Corkeyandpals (talk) 23:21, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the source ! Added a (CGI) tag and few words to say this to our readers. LVCDC (talk) 23:49, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
