Curtiss Oriole
The Curtiss Oriole (Curtiss Model 17) was an American three-seat general-purpose biplane designed in 1919 but price reduced to as low as the third in 1921 to compete with the inundation of war-surplus planes. Failing to find a market, several surplus (i.e. wings) were sold apart, for example to Pitcairn Aircraft Company (which used them for its first design : the Pitcairn PA-3 Orowing).

The lack of vents on engine's side below the pipe is unusual. A closer inspection reveals a larger panel than required by the location. A sheet metal panel summarily added to an incomplete airframe just before being scrapped?
