User talk:Sixcyl
Welcome to the IMPDb
Thanks for joining The Internet Movie Plane Database Sixcyl!
I was wondering if you would sign up.
If you feel you can contribute to the site and stick to the format we are currently using, I know that the viewing community, including myself and the other users would be very appreciative of anything you can do to help. There is a new users page which you can use to make the site easier to use as well.
Also, the new forum is a great place to publicly discuss things.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to email us at support@impdb.org.

Issues
Tleeg has made me aware of your post on the imcdb forum. Hopefully this will clear up some points.
- Completed film pages should be published on both the Movie List and Movies list. How to do this is explained in the Finished Page section.
- You can rename your file by typing what ever you want in the 'Destination filename' box on the upload page. Once you've selected the file from your hard drive it automatically puts the file name in the 'Destination filename' box, but you can change this to whatever you like.
I did edit your comments slightly on the Rockwell Sabreliner section, mainly just removing your username. IMPDb is a community project, and should remain like that on all published pages. Any contributions are accredited on the 'history' page. You are free to write any comments about the page on the discussion page, and are encouraged here to add you username to a post.
For your comments on Contact, I didn't remove them completely, but moved them to the discussion page. However, as you have brought up the issue, I am happy to review my edits and have reinstated your comments, albeit slightly edited in line with what I said before.
I do hope you continue to contribute to IMPDb, as you could be a great help. If you have any more problems or issues, feel free to contact me.

Thanks a lot for your help with some of these more difficult planes. The information is greatly appreciated! Sorry if it seems to have taken awhile to update the movie pages with the new info. I now have them all updated. Hopefully I got them right.
You obviously have noticed that there may be times that the main contributors (specifically myself and Bthebest currently) aren't always available to make an update or change right away. Then other times we are on for long periods of times making tons of updates regularly. It is due to this possibility and many other reasons I have chosen do have this be a collaborative wiki style website. You have proven that you are more than qualified to make the changes right to the movie pages, if you would like. Either way you choose to help however is great. Thanks again! It's great to see you doing so much!
I've tried to address all the issues you've brought up and have also made some minor edits to others bits and bobs. If you haven't already seen it, there is the recent changes page where you can see an overall picture of the recent changes on IMPDb, so see if anyone has changed or commented on something on pages you've worked on. Also please don't be offended by any changes i may have h!!!
made to your contributions, I'm just trying to keep IMPDb to the highest standard possible! It's great to see you interested in developing your editing skills.

Hey there!
I can't tell you how excited I am to have you as a part of this community. I know it's different than what you are use to and I appreciate your willingness to continue trying. It appears you are doing quite well now. Remember, if you need anything at all, just ask. The forum is a great tool also. Tleeg 01:02, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Hello sirs
Thank's for all these kind messages. Indeed, my keens and desire to contribute to this site were stronger than my lazyness towards wiki! ... I'm "weaky" learner, but it's rather going better now even if there are still some "grey areas" I can't manage myself for the moment, as for instance the links between new aircraft categories I create, and the aircraft list or manufacturer list... my contributions on that point staying completely blanks on this pages.. Another slight pb I have is with the edit pages: copy/paste on part of text are difficult. Cursor is moving away all the time! It's very disturbing! Pb with my computer rather than wiki-pb? By the way, I've many new films to post, some are already listed in red in the movie list, but blank. (Battle of Britain for instance) May I feel free to fulfill those with my own pictures ? Ok for the Forum tool, but it needs time that I still share with IMCDB as you know, and I'm not a big user of forums in general.(see my low contributions in Imcdb Forum) Sixcyl
- For the aircraft categories, it was agreed, or not contested that links only be created if the category exists - or should exist due to its appearance in another movie.
- Not sure about the copy/paste problems.
- Feel free to fill any blank movies - unless there is an note saying otherwise.

User page
If you are interested, you could create an list of the film pages you've created similar to my small list or Tim's extensive list. In addition, I would love to hear more about you and how you have become so knowledgeable about aircraft. I am sure I'm not the only one. :-) Tleeg 20:14, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Congrats
I just thought I would point out that you have quickly and easily made it to #1 for the past 7 day edits and the past 30 days! On top of that, you are #4 for all time edits. That is awesome! I brought it up in the forum also. Hope you don't mind. I did want to mention that we are trying to keep the screenshots to a max of 5 per aircraft as stated in the New Users, pictures section. There are instructions on how/where to add more if you desire, as I have in some of my own film pages. Thanks again for all your hard work! Tleeg 20:14, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Roger!
... and thank's again!
Ok I didn't noticed the rule about number of pictures/aircraft. I'll will limit them then. Do you want me to delete some of them in the few film concerned by?
Indeed I would pleased to give more about me in my own page, but I'm not yet good enough with wiki/html language to a presentation as you have in your own pages.
Sixcyl
- If you don't mind, that would be great if you could delete some that put it over the 5 per aircraft rule. Even on some of my own film pages, you may notice I have gone back in and taken some of the screenshots out and transplanted them over in the Additional Pictures section of the forum. I have decided to do it this way because I want the site to be clean and uniform and yet I don't want to leave anything out. Save the best for the wiki and the rest for the forum.
- As for the "User page", if you have been doing this site without any copy and paste work, than you are better than I. Let's just say, I am the copy/paste master. Just copy my user page, paste onto your user page, modify, and save. Tleeg 10:16, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- You are doing such a great job Jean-Marc! It would be so awesome to hear a little about you and learn how you have become so knowledgeable with aircraft and their details. Thank you for all the great contributions! Tleeg 20:34, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Ok Tobin... I'll will delete the extra pictures, in the few films where there are over 5/aircraft. And asap, I'll give some more info in my profile/user page... sure! Thank's for all, I find very exciting to contribute to your site... sixcyl
- Ha-ha. I am really happy to hear that you have found it exciting. Anything I get done on the site, or anything that gets done period, gets me excited. It's just neat to see the site growing. If you choose, it's also fun to keep a running list on your page of the film pages you've put together. But I know that just adds more work. I am sure you have realized by now it's not necessary since anyone can already see what each user has done, but it makes it easier. Do you still prefer imcdb's format? Tleeg 01:09, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Imcdb's format versus Impdb wiki format? well I think Imcdb remains much easier and quicker in terms of contributions, and friendly for comments section under the film pages, that gives a sort of "forum" possibility at any time about the movie, the cars ...and any subjects sometimes merely off-topics ... but it can be be "fun"! ... IMPDB doesn't give these possibilities, but has some other arguments! I like the connection offered in the design of the page, with a direct and assumed connection to cinema (movie poster or DVD cover, list of actors, story line/synopsis..etc)that reminds the purpose of the site Movie AND aircraft. I just regret you didn't gave a place to the Director name! As cinema lover, I think it's a lack. In another hand, I think IMPDB format is much well adapted to aircrafts than IMCDB to cars, as there are generally much less pictures of planes in movies than cars. Imagine some page films of IMCDB , with hundreds of cars, in wiki format?! So? ..I must admit that since self-adaptation of myself in this new format, I find it right. wink! sixcyl
- I appreciate the honest and valuable feedback. I know what you are saying about the comments being directly under the pictures. We still have the ability to discuss things freely on the discussion pages and even in the forum, which you haven't tried out yet (wink) Ha-ha. I feel that the way we have done it keeps it "clean" looking but still has the fun aspect due to the other 2 areas. I will have to use cdb more to learn how contributions are made. I do think it's good that we have chosen to include the wiki and imdb links at the bottom of each page for individuals that are interested in learning more about the film such as the director's name or other cast and crew members who were involved, etc. Tleeg 19:51, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Yes those links are a good point, fitting well in the wiki presentation. I agree too with the clean looking you want focus on. I hope my way of posting things is ok for you or Tim on that point. If there are some comments , please feel free to tell me.
By the way, about links with other sites, I already include on IMCDB comments a direct link to IMPD pages for each films I had post cars pictures, delating all the aircraft pictures there ( for the great pleasure of antp webmaster I guess?).
Yes, I must participate to your forum...soon. Sixcyl

New Categories of Airplane
It seems many categories I've created down page of movies have disappeared. How can we manage to update these in the films and Aircraft list? Sixcyl
- Tim, Bthebest, has taken charge of the categories. Of course anyone can create a category page, but we have decided to create categories for only those aircraft which appear in more than one film on the site. Obviously we hope at some point, there will be a category page every aircraft. It just takes more time to create each category page and red hyperlinks that direct to a blank page is something we don't want. Tleeg 06:03, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Deletion
We alright to delete this page? Bthebest 07:35, 18 December 2010 (MST)
- Of course Tim. I made a mistake in copy/paste from IMDb. To be deleted indeed. Sixcyl
- Thanks Sixcyl. P.S. You might find it easier if you want to use 4 tides like this: ~~~~ after your discussion comments. Tleeg 09:26, 18 December 2010 (MST)

Spacing
What's with the weird spacing in the cast lists on your latest creations? Bthebest 14:48, 20 December 2010 (MST) Don't know how it came. corrected. Sixcyl
Wondering if you don't mind providing your email address in the "my preferences" link in the upper right corner. I wanted to drop you a an email here and there if that's cool. One right now that I think you will find valuable. Tobin Lee 00:24, 14 January 2011 (MST)
- No problem Tobin, but before i just want to check something. The email adress entered for my account login had been the previuous one jm.bergez@marechal.fr , since that time the adress has been changed for .com extension instead of .fr. Can I change it with no incidence for my account, to "jm.bergez@marechal.com"? Sixcyl
- I don't think there should be any problem if you were to change your email address in "my preferences". I think I may even have changed mine back in the day. Tobin Lee 01:15, 14 January 2011 (MST)
Spacing/Email
I was just curious what your thoughts were on this edit: The Mummy Edit. I always take out that spacing. I don't know if it even makes a difference.
Also wondering if you figured out how to add your email from my instructions above? Tobin Lee 00:28, 17 January 2011 (MST)
- Yes I did add my email adress.
- I always take out that spacing. I don't know if it even makes a difference I don't understand what you want to mean? Sixcyl 00:36, 17 January 2011 (MST)
- If you click the link I provided you will see the space you added appearing in green with a "+" next to it meaning it was an addition. On the email, you must not have check marked the boxes below the email address section. "Email this user" should appear on the sidebar when users are on your user/user talk page. Tobin Lee 00:47, 17 January 2011 (MST)
Hey Sixcyl, I messed up
Hey Sixcyl, i created a new page with the French title in stead of just move it to another title... Hmm.. How to delete the old page with the title Sky Fighters? Appreciate Your help RenoRacer 11:06, 12 February 2011 (MST)
- Well I don't know exactly how to delete the old page. Let's wait for Bthebest or TLeeg comments. In the meanwhile, I've deleted the comments in the previous pages and left a link to the new page. You'll will see that I've created another "Les chevaliers du ciel" page instead of "Les Chevaliers du Ciel" according to the french rule of writing (with low cases on each words execpt on the first letter of the first word). Sixcyl 01:32, 13 February 2011 (MST)
- Hey there Reno, what's wrong with the old title? What is the old title and what is the new title? - Tobin Lee 11:40, 13 February 2011 (MST)
Re: sixcyl wiki problems. Help!
Most of us are new the the wiki format, including myself. Tim has helped Wikipedia for a few years now so he knows it better than most. I don't think there's a way to add comments on a page change's comments like you were asking about. I too am curious about Tim's thoughts about having the 'Category' links at the bottom (except the 'Unidentified Aircraft' link). Probably just makes it more organized, etc. - Tobin Lee 11:56, 13 February 2011 (MST)
Thank's Tobin. Let's wait for Tim comment. But I don't understand something. The sentence appearing in "page change" comments must had been posted in one specific page, on where we should be able to reply, no? Sixcyl 12:10, 13 February 2011 (MST)
- The comments I have made are in the comments box at the bottom of the edit page. They can't be responded to directly. These are comments about the changes that I have made to page, and it is a good idea to use this feature when you are making significant edits as it allows you to explain why you've made them. As for the category links, as Tobin said, it keeps it more organized, keeping it clearer for unseasoned users. You yourself have said that you find it difficult using the wiki-syntax so by pairing the text with the equivalent page display, seeing what the text does is easier e.g. all the categories are linked at the bottom so the relevant code is as well. As for the 'Unidentified Aircraft', the only reason I started putting them with the aircraft titles is so that new users who don't know the system can see a difference by taking their change off the unidentified list, although this can be changed to keep in line with the rest. Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 14:57, 13 February 2011 (MST)
- Bthbest wrote "The comments I have made are in the comments box at the bottom of the edit page". I don't see what you mean. I don't find any comments box at the bottom of the edit page!! sorry. Sixcyl 16:40, 13 February 2011 (MST)
- Six, the comments box appears every time you make an edit, although it is actually titled "Summary:" It's not possible to respond to those comments, which can be a bit frustrating at times, but that is what we have the forum and discussion pages for. Tim, I would like to keep the Unidentified code/headline how we have it, and the other codes how we have them. - Tobin Lee 12:49, 14 February 2011 (MST)
- Hi, now the reasons for the formatting have been explained could you please try and format accordingly. Also, a minor point, recently the space has been missing between 'Movie' and '(Year)' on your pages. Might want to check your template etc. Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 11:47, 18 February 2011 (MST)

Recent Categories
Hey, thanks for your help on the new categories - they're looking good. You might realise now why it takes a while to get them done as it does get quite boring after a while! Also, just a reminder that Tobin has asked for the 'Category' format to be kept the way it is, so if you could keep to the format it would be good, thanks. Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 14:46, 20 February 2011 (MST)
Yes, it's quite long, indeed. Thank's.
What dou you mean by keeping the "Category" format the way it is? I don't understand. Is there something wrong I've done? Sixcyl 14:56, 20 February 2011 (MST)
- From the issues we discussed in the section above, so putting all the Category tags at the bottom of the page (except the unidentified ones). Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 14:58, 20 February 2011 (MST)
But they are at the bottom of the pages!!! I still don't catch what you mean!!?? Sixcyl 15:07, 20 February 2011 (MST)
Do you mean that way==> see edit page on Che gioia vivere Sixcyl 15:27, 20 February 2011 (MST)

but the way that I have changed it to, for unidentified aircraft..could you give an exemple maybe?
By the way, I don't understand why all this is important as the result gave the same result? But I'm far from beeing an expert on HTML/wiki language....Sixcyl 11:10, 23 February 2011 (MST)
- At least one of the reasons it's important is to make it easier for future users to understand when they go to look at the source code or edit page.
OK Sixcyl 11:59, 24 February 2011 (MST)
- Example would be what Che gioia vivere looks like now in the edit page. Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 14:39, 24 February 2011 (MST)

Great help
I have said this before, but I can't tell you how much of a great help you are to this project. I did have to ask something though. I find myself making the exact same edits on every page you create. Of course the major parts of the page are fantastic, but I continue to add periods, edit spacing, and lowercase the word "movie" on the DVD/poster picture. Can you tell me why this is the case? Is it a problem with your template? Do you ever look at the recent changes page? I know you have in the past. - Tobin Lee 22:07, 6 July 2011 (MDT)
- Thanks Tobin. I try to do my best, but I'm not sure to understand all what you mean?
- add periods ..do you mean for TV series? I'm used to add them too...didn't I
- edit spacing ...what do you mean?
- lowercase the word "movie" ... Ok, I understand you want to read movie not Movie. I'll pay more attention next time.
- Sixcyl 00:07, 7 July 2011 (MDT)
- Yeah, it's really just very minor things. Here's one recent example: http://impdb.org/index.php?title=Churchill:_The_Hollywood_Years&diff=22634&oldid=22633 When you add a description in a screenshot thumbnail, like a registration, or other fun info, you never add a period at the end. With the spacing, I usually have to add or subtract a line here and there throughout each page. That one is a bit more difficult to explain, but as an example, there should always be two spaces or lines right above the word "format" and no spaces or lines between "format" and "See also". Also just one space/line between each plane and between the synopsis, etc. Basically only one space/line between everything (when necessary) except at the very bottom like I mentioned. I hope this helps. - Tobin Lee 02:22, 7 July 2011 (MDT)
...you never add a period at the end Sorry, but I really don't understand what you mean by period? do you mean "point"?
For the other points I'll check these clumsy questions of spacing, but I'm not sure to have understood all the problem. What do you mean by format for instance?.Sixcyl 05:58, 7 July 2011 (MDT)
About the movie 'Scusi, lei è normale?'
Hello.
I'm very sorry to bother you, but could I ask you about one of your posts on IMCDb.org? The thing is, you once posted a number of images of cars from the movie 'Scusi, lei è normale?' (here is a link to the page: [1]). I have been trying to find this movie for a long time, but I can't find it anywhere.
Because you posted so many images from this movie, I wondered if you might know where I could find this movie, either to buy or download.
I would have contacted you on the IMCDb site itself, but I couldn't find any way to send a message to a member directly, so I looked for your username on google and found your account here.
Again, I'm really, really sorry to bother you, but I have been looking for this movie for a long time, and I don't know who else to ask. Thanks very much for your time,
Willa 20:46, 27 November 2011 (UST)
Hello Willa.
I bought this DVD few years ago in a shop (FNAC) and I'm afraid I can't tell you much about it. Sixcyl 14:18, 27 November 2011 (MST)
- Okay, thanks very much anyway. Willa 15:53, 28 November 2011 (MST)
About the IMCDb issue
I read yesterday the unsenseless words of Antp about my "insults" and the comments. I can explain, if you're interested, the reasons of the "Insults":
- since 2010 i'm totally ignored: My contributions are deleted, lost, my pictures deleted, the cars of my county ignored/mocked, when i'm erroneus in any comments, i'm insulted and unrespected, when viceversa was totally different. My job, my time, and the movies of my country are ignored and none interested in the reasons of some cultural things of "South America" when i explained the "rude" and chauvinism of brazilian people, I was harassed and rejected by all (when in reality, I could try, and I'm right). When i arrived in the late 2009 (december, i remember) appears few argentinian movies and just 35 cars from argentinian origin and few pages with cars made here. Today, 929 cars from Argentina and near 65 pages with argentinian-made cars. An incredibly hard job, no?
For all these things, i'm really bored with the attitudes of the "nice people" (not all are bad, some people are really good and interested in learn new things). Surely, if none change, never appears any argentinian admin in IMCDb. Pity, but it's the true. Sorry if in some moment any are offended, but it's the reality. I'm still contribuiting with IMPDb, for sure, but in IMCDb, probably with other users like carobserver. Regards and thanks for your time. Gomselmash11, 16 February 2012 (MST)
Hello Gomslmash11. We do appreciate your works on IMCDb and IMPDb either. But of course, there is no conspiracy against Argentina or South American culture or cars on IMCDB by any people contributing to this site! The fact is that we "live" in a community from many different cultures, stories, languages and that is a nice point that deserves respect of each other , and you can understand that insults are not agreed whatever the opinions laid by some people in their comments. About deletions of some pictures, I've had the same problem with some admins (antp, etc...) who do not accept some "too background cars" pictures. That's a fact and I don't care anymore if they delete some of my contributions according to their rules ! Please do the same, leave it! what importance? I hope you'll agree and be able to come back on IMCDb with full rights for nice and interesting pictures of cars ...and airplanes! Thanks.Sixcyl 23:37, 16 February 2012 (MST)
about WRZ
Nice movie but some glimpses are missing; I've tried to upload them but minus two of them, the uploading failed (other JPG for new movie are OK since but a new trial gives a new failure. How to transfert JPG and code to your mailbox ? (perhaps you will have more luck...) Regards LVCDC
What do you mean about WRZ? new film title?
Can you sign your comment. (Alt gr+tild-tild). Sixcyl 13:24, 20 May 2012 (MDT)
Sorry!
I think each post would be signed automaticaly (the date/time gives me this wrong idea).
I've eventually upload all the add-on (former failure probably due to my full HD; it's better since I've swept it). LVCDC 22 May 2012
TV Series Formatting
Hi, the guidelines regarding the page format of TV Series' has been updated, but I just wanted to clarify it with you given all the contributions you make. The reasons for these guidelines are to make the pages as consistent and clear as possible. The site is primarily showcasing the aircraft, and less about the production details - we link to IMDb for this reason. Using your latest contribution as an example (Monty Python's Flying Circus):
- Episode counts and years active should not be included in cast details.
- Pages should not be sectioned by Episode, only Season. This keeps the formatting of the aircraft titles the same and prevents excessive repetition - an aircraft could appear in multiple episodes. It is also unnecessary given that the episode details have been included for each aircraft anyway.
In effect, what we are doing is treating each Season as an individual production, but putting them on the same page. Keep up all the good work! Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 03:18, 28 December 2012 (MST)
- Thanks for acknowledging this and putting in all the effort for the changes you've made to TV Series pages. Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 17:51, 29 December 2012 (MST)
Thanks Tim.Indeed, I've started to make the changes on all TV series in the aim of homogeneity. I wasn't so convinced in the result of what I done before. So I suggest this kind of presentation for TV series:
= Season number = or = Series number =
== Category aircraft ==
Ep.X.XX title of the episode (if exist)
Comment (if wanted) under the episode number and title.
Registration XXXXX, c/n XXXXX if visble on the aircraft.

I think this could be sort of guideline for presentation of TV Series page. What do you think? Sixcyl 00:52, 30 December 2012 (MST)
- Looks great, I've updated the New Users guidelines to mention about the name and title and given Magnum, P.I. as an example. I've also updated the Page Template with a section for TV Series'.

Bonjour Jean-Marc
Sixcyl 20:00, 20 December 2013 (MST)
BTW : why did you change the category Breguet Br.1150 into Breguet Atlantic ?
The type number is common to both Atlantics and Atlantiques but the new page is exclusive to the older ones, isn't it ?
LVCDC 07:58, 16 December 2013 (MST)
First, the Atlantique ATL2 doesn't use the Br.1150 number, secondly I think it's better to use the generic name, as for the Provence, Alizée (not listed yet), etc... and it makes better looking in the Aircraft category list.Sixcyl 20:00, 20 December 2013 (MST)
Recent Category
Hi, what's the reasoning behind your changes to the category names? Whilst a hyphen may be appropriate for some e.g. Fairchild-Republic as the name comes from the combination of the both, the majority shouldn't include a hyphen as it is the company name e.g. Fairchild bought Hiller and the name was changed to Fairchild Hiller, who then produced the FH-1100.
Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 11:14, 19 December 2013 (MST)
I understand this point of view, but it's difficult to watch at the list Fairchild Hiller FH-1100 between Fairchild C-82 Packet and Fairchild PT-19. Sixcyl 20:07, 20 December 2013 (MST)
- There is a simpler and better solution - we can specify how the list is sorted - see my example with Fairchild Hiller. I would suggest reversing the previous changes then I can implement the sorting.
Recent Category : say again !
I don't understand why on Johan Falk: De fredlösa the Cessna is given a category which doesn't exist and in which it's the single movie ?
BTW, why did you corrected the soviet registrations SSSR- in CCCP- ? We didn't use cyrillic alphabet (or we should write Туполев for exemple) ? I think it's an interesting subject for our Admin ;-) ... Regards. LVCDC 12:53, 8 March 2014 (MST)
The category doesn't exist yet but it's just a question of time. The other movie figuring this Citation Sovereign is Was machen Frauen morgens um halb vier?. By the way, I'm not sure if categorizing it as Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign is better than Cessna Citation Sovereign.... Of course all the others Citations are named with Model number included, but maybe it would be better to change? Sixcyl 13:24, 8 March 2014 (MST)
- All right ! An Unfinished Page or Under Construction banner would suit well in these cases. LVCDC 15:29, 8 March 2014 (MST)
about CCCP rather than SSSR ==> every litterature, or websites use cyrillic alphabet for registrations of soviet aircraft. It's a tacit convention it seems.Sixcyl 13:24, 8 March 2014 (MST)
- Well ... So I search among Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_registration_prefixes) : "Actually Cyrillic-script for SSSR" (without sourcing this).
- CCCP-л5417 is not easy with a roman keyboard ! LVCDC 15:29, 8 March 2014 (MST)

Picture Uploading
It works not yet fine but full size pictures could be displayed at reduced size. You just need to PREVIEW one or two times. If it fails, reloaded the picture(s) which resist. Or read the forum here : [2] (Rush's messages).
Perhaps it's more easy with a small number of picture than a page with a great number ? LVCDC 12:29, 13 March 2014 (MDT)
Aircraft Categories
Well, they seem to have already been created for a number a categories previously so I figured it might as well be continued. It lets users search the aircraft and actually directly find the page instead of having to search through the movie pages, and it lets us link to the aircraft without having to put :Category: in front of it. Overall, it just makes navigation here easier. Corkeyandpals 14:26, 17 March 2014 (MDT)

Aircraft Categories (The New Return)
Dear Sixcyl,
You created new categories (on 2nd June 2014) for three aircraft from Roland Garros : l'embrasseur de nuages. But there are still no more page with Junkers J1, Nieuport II and Airco DH.9. Forgetting?
Must we kept them ? with an Unfinished Page banner ? LVCDC 14:02, 14 June 2014 (MDT)
Thanks for the Tip !
I did as you've told me and it works fine. So I've corrected all the uploaded in error of the last 15 days. Perhaps could you help me for the last touch on this page : Vilaine (2008) ? LVCDC 12:21, 19 June 2014 (MDT)
Roe Triplane Category and Ader Eole
LVCDC 12:18, 12 August 2014 (MDT)
Sixcyl 07:50, 19 August 2014 (MDT)
Excessive Images
Hi Sixcyl, based on you latest contribution (Roissy Charles de Gaulle: embarquement immédiat), I need to insist that you follow the site's guidelines on number of images and limit the number of separate sections for aircraft. For example, there are multiple sections for "Airbus A320-214" when just one section, with a picture of each of the different liveries would be best. The Air Europa 737-85P is an example of excessive numbers of pictures - more pictures doesn't add value to the page, but just makes it longer and less interesting. 5 pictures is the maximum, not the recommended.
The reason the site keeps going offline is we are using too much data storage, so we need to limit the amount of data on the site.
Please update the page to reflect these considerations, and I will delete the unnecessary images to save data. I will make the changes if you don't. Thank you for your help with this. Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 13:31, 23 August 2014 (MDT)

Airlines Categories
One's hat off !
Airlines Categories are on the track !
In order to keep aircraft & airlines categories well splited, I checked the movie pages already updated by Corkeyandpals and you : I put the airlines at the end of the footnotes, after all the aircraft categories (after all, we are on IMPDB, not IMADB, isn't it ?). This will help to check if all categories of each type are well listed especially for the biggest projects as like as Dangers dans le ciel/Mayday. LVCDC 20:39, 13 December 2014 (MST)
Aircraft Categories (The German Manufacturers)
RLM NEVER used a dash between the two letters manufacturer code and the type number. All German manufacturers are OK except Junkers. In fact, new categories are built taking care of this rule and we just need to correct Ju 52 / Ju 86 / Ju 87 and Ju 88. Yes ! that's a lot of work but there is no reason to continue an error and increase the future load of changes.
So I've built the new Junkers Ju 90 correctly and undoed your change. LVCDC 11:36, 29 December 2014 (MST)
BTW,
- I'm trying to correct those categories but two are locked (Ju 86 and Ju 52). So I'm doing the changes for the Ju 88 and I noted a "FSA / Common Aircraft" link on the first movie. So I went to change it but the second movie has no Ju 88 !
Wrzesien - tak bylo... ... did you forget an upload on this movie page ? or is it a mistake on the "Common Aircraft" page ?
- (update [14:03]) Real link found and change done. It was The Story of Aviation.
- you changed several categories but why Handley Page H.P.42 and Handley Page H.P.45 and Handley Page H.P.W8B are in red on the "FSA / Common Aircraft" page ?
- In the same way, I'll follow BtheBest whish and correcting Tupolev's category pages to put the ANT title instead the customer (mainly the VVS) usual name. At least, as changes are time consuming, FUTURE new categories will be built under this rule and the three older ones changed later (i.e. Tupolev SB, TB-1 and TB-3).
Regards. LVCDC 13:30, 29 December 2014 (MST)
Gasp ! The problem is not the melting of civil / military aircraft (think to all these C-47, UH-1 and many other transport craft ... or Warbirds now under civil registration). Where do we post a craft seen first under a roundel then with a civil registration ? I think it will be better to split between props / jets, isn't it ?
In fact, the page is too long and needs to be splitted in two parts. No page would excess 100,000 bytes. LVCDC 04:30, 11 January 2015 (MST)
Bis zum Horizont, dann links!
Hello Sixcyl !
This movie has much more aviation action than cars and trucks ones. I've made a page here on IMPDB with an extra for IMCDB on the discussion tab. So you have the response to your query on http://www.imcdb.org/movie_1907628-Bis-zum-Horizont,-dann-links!.html

What is a Lockheed L-749 -79-46 ?
I'm afraid you've made a wrong typing on C'est la vie parisienne. Regards. LVCDC 18:13, 8 May 2015 (MDT)
It's the type of this AF Constellation , like F-BAZP for instance:
http://www.airliners.net/photo/Air-France/Lockheed-L-749-79-46-Constellation/2092585/&sid=1bbb2fa02d8de8c767d1339eec236261
By the way, there are others "Connies" with such designation in the list of the site.

Stop Blanking Pages !
Please stop to create new page by copy/paste other one then blanking the 'old' one. If something is wrong with the title, the MOVE tab allows you the same result without breaking links ! And if I remember well, you will move all the data (including DISCUSSION) in a single action. Thanks to be careful of this point. LVCDC 01:54, 29 June 2015 (MDT)

Future Airlines Categories
Hey, I just want to clarify the names of some future airline categories with you, so we can avoid having to go back and change things, especially for some of the bigger ones.
- KLM - Should we just do KLM, or KLM Royal Dutch Airlines?
- Northwest Airlines - Should we split Northwest and Northwest Orient into two separate categories or keep them together in one?
- SAS - Should we separate Scandinavian Airlines System and Scandinavian Airlines?
Thanks, Corkeyandpals 17:13, 27 July 2015 (MDT)
Hello Corkeyandpals. Thanks for asking. Indeed, there are some difficult cases about naming some arlines:
For KLM case, I think it would be better to use KLM alone rather than KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, which cover only post WWII period, after the branding as Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij before WWII.
The case of Northwest is tricky, the codes IATA/ICAO/Callsign remain the same between the 2 namings, but I find more attractive to share the 2 eras , and I'd go for separates categories Northwest Orient Airlines and Northwest Airlines.
The same for SAS, though I would use Scandinavian Airlines System name and not SAS.
The case of Pan Am, will be interesting too. I think we shall have to share between PAA era Pan American Airways System and Pan American World Airways era.
TWA will also be separated between the early era Transcontinental & Western Air ' and later Trans World Airlines.
What do you think?.Sixcyl 15:10, 28 July 2015 (MDT)
That all sounds good to me. Corkeyandpals 10:38, 29 July 2015 (MDT)
- Another question, Japan Airlines or Japan Air Lines? Corkeyandpals 01:26, 18 October 2015 (MDT)
I'd go for Japan Airlines, as it's the present branding, and due to the fact that no major changes occured between the 2 eras... In this case I would find pointless to make to categories... Are you OK? Sixcyl 01:53, 18 October 2015 (MDT)
The Move tab
Hello
How to be efficient without the final touch of BtheBest ? And to do more easily changes in movie's title ?
Just think to use the MOVE tab instead to create a new page, paste the old one, copy data in the new one then blannking the old one ... which is still on lists. The MOVE do all-in-one action. And avoid such "twins" : La chance. and La chance.
Regards.
BTW, BRAVO for the impressive work about airlines ! LVCDC 06:13, 1 August 2015 (MDT)
Thanks !
yes I'll try to remember the correct use of MOVE tab. Sixcyl 09:01, 25 August 2015 (MDT)
Menaces
Bonjour

Wanted Categories
Hello, Gasp ! Some categories have already 60 links and no dedicated page ! BTW, what do you think the better if I built a new page : shall I put a category for any airline or not ? (Look at Gung Ho). But we have the risk of lots of categories with a single link (which is against IMPDB rules...). Regards. LVCDC 06:34, 27 September 2015 (MDT)
Hello, I agree it's many... but I'm busy in a hudge work on Independant Airlines documentary. I'm willing to create all these new pages but I have no time for the moment. I think Corkeyandpals should finish the job too..Sixcyl 08:11, 27 September 2015 (MDT)
Well ... I'm waiting the end of this huge work... and forget we are all enthusiasts but not professionals so time is limited. About Corkeyandpals, I'm afraid he's dislike a lot writing such category page ;-) ! LVCDC 10:41, 27 September 2015 (MDT)
Access to IMPDB
Since nearly ten days, I experienced several times a day this message : "this Wiki has a problem".
All of these bug are short-lived but we are in October and like every year at Fall, I'm frightened of a possible major shutdown of the site. And BtheBest must be very busy; he came a very few times these last six months ...
Any idea ? [same msg post at Corkeyandpals Talk Page] LVCDC 03:31, 8 October 2015 (MDT)

I hope Tim will come back soon?...Sixcyl 13:06, 8 October 2015 (MDT)
Re: CAAC and Sterling
Both of those changes are fine with me. In terms of using acronyms, should Leeward Islands Air Transport and Líneas Aéreas Privadas Argentinas be moved as well? Corkeyandpals 05:39, 14 November 2015 (MST)
No, I think it's Ok... like BEA, BOAC... etc.. it's better that way...Sixcyl 10:03, 14 November 2015 (MST)
Okay. One last thing, when we make a category for JAL should it be Japan Air Lines or Japan Airlines? Corkeyandpals 02:03, 15 November 2015 (MST)
I would say it's better to use the last name, as we choose to have a single page for the company.Sixcyl 02:20, 15 November 2015 (MST)
File Uploading
Hey sixcyl, I was wondering if you've any problems uploading new versions of pictures recently? For the last few weeks, whenever I visit the page for a file, I am logged out and can't upload a new version. I noticed you uploaded new versions of some pictures the other day, and am curious if you experienced a similar issue and found a workaround, or just haven't experienced at all.
Thanks, Corkeyandpals 19:33, 10 April 2016 (MDT)
Hello Corkeyandpals....I experienced some kinds of misoperating of the site these last weeks... mostly was " There is a problem with this wiki" with site out of service for a long time ... otherwise, I have some troubles with editing new pictures....I can't up load another picture directly: I have to get backword to the previous page... Sixcyl 06:27, 11 April 2016 (MDT)
Hi Guys,
I experienced such problem since end of March (for Squadron 992). In fact, I have a folder with the new movie page on the workbench and a second one to upload the pictures. Once the pix on the database, I copy/paste the code into the template on the first folder then used the 'upload file' link to activate again the other folder (by dropping it).
Not the best way but better than the Deny of Access of March ! LVCDC 14:01, 11 April 2016 (MDT)
