-PHI (Petroleum Helicopters International, Inc.) was founded in 1949 to provide service for the oil and gas industry. Through decades, it becomes the world biggest non-military group of helicopter, reaching 300 machines in 2015. On March 2019, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy following the crude oil price crisis but was saved by arbitration the following month. To date (2022) its fleet is one third dedicated to Air Medical segment (*) and the two thirds to Oil and Gas segment, operating AgustaWestland AW139 and several types of Bell and Sikorsky and Airbus Helicopters for a grand total of more 250 helicopters.
