After the accidental death of his parents, the young son of a factory owner, Louis Maillard, tries to run the watch factory, which is heavily in debt due to his father's illegal transactions, on his own. People rush in from all sides to woo the newcomer. After becoming hopelessly entangled in all the nets laid out for him, he finally has no choice but to merge with his uncle Otmar Nef's large company.
