Model of a Soko G-4 Super Galeb seen in Daleko Nebo / Далеко небо.

The Soko G-4 Super Galeb was developed during the 1970s. As the former G-2 Galeb, the new aircraft was dedicated for advance training and rely on the Rolls-Royce Viper turbojet, this time with an uprated variant delevering 4,000 lbs (17.8 kN) of thrust instead the 2,500 lbs (11.12 kN) for the variant used on the G-2. Now the wing still low on the fuselage is slightly tapered and so the airframe is lightly sharing the shape of the contemporary Hawker Siddeley Hawk, the main difference being the tandem seats on the same level on the Super Galeb instead the height differential between the two seats of the Hawk. The Super Galeb secondary role was the light ground-attack and was used as it during the Yugoslavian wars, three of them being shot down. Several others were destroyed on the ground (including the seven G-4s of the Leteće zvezde aerobatics team), the remaining being split between the new States. Today (2023), only the Serbian Air Force is still using an upgraded variant and the other original buyer air force, the Myanmar Air Force (six airframes delivered at the then Burmese Air Force). Several airplanes has been sold on the civilian market.

85 Super Galeb left the production line.
