There was no J-3 in this movie. That airplane that Baker is flying is a Bellanca Super Decathlon in the outside scenes.  The closeup cockpit scenes during the storm were shot in a Bellanca Citabria. You can tell it's a Citabria by the red beacon on the upper fuselage behind the cockpit, which is not on the Decathlon. Smutny
