La mer est grande (The Sea Is Wide) is a French television series consisting of six 60-minute episodes broadcast in 1973. This series was intended to be the maritime equivalent of Les chevaliers du ciel (1967 TV Series) (Knights of the Sky) by the same writer (Jean-Michel Charlier).

Dassault Etendard IVM s/n 66 on duty from 1964 till 1979. This year, modified to become Etendard IVP s/n 166 (1979-1998). Now on display at Savigny-les-Baunes, France after 3056 flight hours.

Code L for this Aérospatiale SA 321G Super Frelon, c/n 149 on strength with Flotille 32F (lost at sea on 16 February 1979, killing all six on board).
L stands for F-XCBL; this practice was discontinued in 1982.

Note the black radome of the Sylphe over the rear landing gear housing.
Sylphe stands for "SYstème de Localisation Pour Hélicoptère" (Helicopter tracking system).

No aircraft seen in episode 1 and 3.
Episode 6 is dedicated to missiles (so, outside IMPDB field) : the story is based on development and testing of a new (fictitious) "Marmara" missile. This "Marmara" seen from far away seems to be Otomat French-Italian anti-ship and coastal defence missile. Also seen are Masurca surface-to-air missile system, Exocet and desk model of the Malafon.
An unidentified flying object, maybe a Nord-Aviation CT20 (French) turbojet-powered radio-controlled target drone ?
If right, this is powered by a Turbomeca Marboré II engine (the same type used for the Fouga Magister), providing a top speed of 900 km/h (560 mph; 490 kn) and a flying time of 55 to 60 minutes and if not destroyed, could be fly again as the drone ended is flight under a parachute. 1530 have been built between 1955 and 1984.
