Welcome!

Welcome to IMPDb! Just been going through some of the latest additions and noticed some quality contributions by yourself. Its great to see new users on here, especially those with great contributions as well. Keep up the good work, and if you have any questions, feel free to post on my talk page. Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 15:47, 21 June 2013 (MDT)

Thanks for the warm welcome! Corkeyandpals 21:22, 21 June 2013 (MDT)

Thank You

You are doing a great job and we at IMPDb really appreciate all your hard work! Keep it up and let us know if there's anything we can do for you. If you have any suggestions or improvement ideas, feel free to share them on the forum.

World War Z

You added two pictures to the movie's page but I think it would be better to put them on the Discussion tab as they didn't show the plane as seen on the screen. Or a link to the forum where a dedicated topic already exists. LVCDC 04:54, 25 November 2013 (MST)

Hyphen in aircraft manufacturer

I've engaged a wide change on all pages of aircraft manufacturer needing hyphens, in order to recover a clean list of aircraft with no mixture between types of aircraft and types of manufacturers, when new names results from merge between two different manufacturers. For instance:
Before this change, list of Fairchild aircraft appeared as:
Fairchild C-82 Packet
Fairchild Hiller FH-1100
Fairchild PT-19
Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderboldt II
Since the move of Fairchild Hiller to Fairchild-Hiller, the order of the list is more correct with non split alphabetic order on the Fairchild aircraft:
Fairchild C-82 Packet
Fairchild PT-19
Fairchild-Hiller FH-1100
Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderboldt II
Therefore all the following aircraft list are concerned too:

Boeing Vertol ==> Boeing-Vertol (done)
Fairchild Republic(done)
Fairchild Swearingen (done)
Grumman American (done)
North American Rockwell (done)
Hawker Siddeley (on work)
Lockheed Martin
McDonnell Douglas
Northrop Grumman

I don't think it's necessary to put a redirection advise on the previous page (with no hyphen) because it pollutes the new aircraft page with a useless SUB CATEGORY. So I prefer to blank them definitively. With use, every body will go easily into this. Thanks. Sixcyl 07:08, 15 December 2013 (MST)

Questions

Thanks for asking first.

1. There has been some discussion on this, and I think we agreed it was OK as it highlights they're not real aircraft, which depending on the film might not be obvious to everyone.

2. As the above is OK, this is too.

3. We have agreed in the past against commercials. Not really the aim of the site.

Russian / Soviet Movies

I'm glad that you post several movies of the former Eastern Block as IMPDB was suffering a big lack about some of te most important aircraft types.
As cyrilic alphabet isn't allow among title (and I think it's a sad rule which cut us from most of these populations), I think it's strange to give registrations in CCCP- form. This should be SSSR- isn't. Or like I try to do from now, to give them (like movie's title) in both alphabets. Your advice will be precious in order we can work with the same rule. Regards. LVCDC 16:51, 25 February 2014 (MST)

Thanks for your reply ; I'm too split between using cyrillic (which gives more results through a search engine as you say) and latin alphabet (which is in accordance with companies names and types use in section's titles). In order to search among movies on IMPDB, we must say what we'll do. Or ask to the admin ... LVCDC 19:01, 25 February 2014 (MST)
You've -and Sixcyl too- convieced me and I will correct all the SSSR- registrations I've written these last weeks. LVCDC 12:16, 13 March 2014 (MDT)

Good News About the Picture Uploading

Not fully fixed, the bug about the automatic resizing of the screenshot uploaded is no more a problem. Just take care to preview the page. If the 500 pixel display doesn't work, try again a preview or reloaded the picture. Look at 1984 for example. LVCDC 12:16, 13 March 2014 (MDT)

Aircraft Category

Why did you create these pseudo categories "Aircraft" redirected to "Category:aircraft" ?Sixcyl 01:13, 17 March 2014 (MDT)

By the way, when you create a new category, please fill the dedicated page instead leaving it blank. With Wikipedia, even if you don't know the story of this aircraft, it's easy to write some lines, just introducing the wiki link. So readers will not click to nowhere. Thanks to think about this. LVCDC 08:14, 24 March 2014 (MDT)

R.U.S.E.

It seems that you created a section for the Mitsubishi Ki-57 but there is no screenshot. Missing picture or aircraft in excess among the inventory ? LVCDC 15:21, 30 March 2014 (MDT)

You can put a sentence to explain you need a better picture instead to put online an unsatifactory one ... or just "missig picture". LVCDC 16:27, 30 March 2014 (MDT)

New Categories (and Unidentified one)

With your last additions, you won the championship of "the most numerous new categories added through a single page" !
I know it's a little bit boring but now it's time to write some lines about each of them. Otherwise they will be lost among the Unfinished Pages ... Even if you don't know well the aircraft, with the help of wikipedia, a very basic note could be easily put online.
BTW, please do not add Unidentified Aircraft to the footnote section. First, the category is taken in account even if it is placed elsewhere. Next, when someone want to help and give the exact type, he changes the section title but most of the time forgets to erase the Unidentified Aircraft among the footnote section ! And so the movie's page is still among the page dedicated to Unidentified Aircrafts summarize. Third, when a new page includes several aircrafts not identified, when identifications are made one after one through days and different contributors, it's sometime hard to know if there is still a machine which need to be named (Imean especially to the biggest pages). So to put category AND unidentification "name" on the same line (just before the pictures) could help for future updates. Of course, others categories are grouped in the bottom to help to identify if no one is missing.
If you want to reply, please write it there; it's easier for a third person to read your answer there instead to track your comment on my page. LVCDC 03:24, 2 May 2014 (MDT)

RE: Homepage

Hi, thanks for pointing it out. I will have a look at it when I next get a chance. Let me know if there are some good quality pages we should promote on the Homepage, and I'll take some pics from there. Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 15:24, 9 May 2014 (MDT)

Empty Category

Hi, Could you explain why you create categories but don't fill them ? Already 26 (most of your own) aircraft categories without a line (with the last one -Nakajima G5N- built alongside the coding of N.Y., N.Y.). Perhaps are you unpleased to write a short text about these planes but if yes, don't create it and so readers would not be put in error when they hope to find some data on these aircrafts. LVCDC 16:58, 14 June 2014 (MDT)

First off, I feel that leaving categories as red links is better than creating them but leaving the page blank because it makes them easier to find when I finally get around to writing them. It also doesn't fool readers into thinking there's writing on them when there's not. Secondly, I believe the primary purpose of having aircraft categories is allowing readers to find other films and things that feature that aircraft, rather than inform them about the aircraft. That's why the pages have Wikipedia links. So, I create categories before writing them so readers know that aircraft can be seen in multiple works on the site. The synopsis is less necessary, and can wait until I or someone else has time to write them. Corkeyandpals 17:30, 14 June 2014 (MDT)

I disagree about your last sentence : readers don't need categories to find aircraft as there is a SEARCH tool (otherwise, how to find an airplane seen only in one page ?). The short text could wait some times but only for a limited cases. When their number is growing and growing, such pages end to be false friends for the user. Yes, the red color indicates that the page is empty but how to detect them by an anonymous reader ? That's why the banner unfinished has been created (in fact, to detect and identify easily movie pages built by a passing contributor who never finish its work ... sometimes since several years !). I think a wiki needs deep work, not only to flutter. LVCDC 11:43, 15 June 2014 (MDT)

El Dorado (2010)

The two big pipes on the side of the engine nacelles don't suit with Cessna T-303, so I put the aircraft back to unidentified (I've probably note a wrong registration but I can't find again the action to verify and fix it). Well ... Prison is now again the single movie with a Cessna T-303. Will you supress the category or do you hope for another movie soon ?
BTW, thanks for the B-58 Hustler category. Will you write quickly a short text or shall I do it ?
Regards. LVCDC 08:47, 15 August 2014 (MDT)

Sure, I'll take care of it. Corkeyandpals 09:47, 15 August 2014 (MDT)
Thanks and good night ! LVCDC 12:28, 15 August 2014 (MDT)

Minimising Image Use

Hi Corkeyandpals, I'm mentioning this to everyone, so nothing personal. The reason for the site going offline recently, and the bigger adverts, is we require more data storage. To try and avoid these problems, we need to be careful about how many images we upload. To achieve this, please only add images to pages that add value - ideally this should be 1 or 2 images of the aircraft, plus a close-up of the registration or other feature if necessary. 5 images is the maximum, not the recommended.

Thanks for all your work and co-operation. Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 14:09, 25 August 2014 (MDT)

BTW, uploading JPG makes no more trouble and it's four times less space consuming than PNG. Regards. LVCDC 08:47, 21 November 2014 (MST)

New Categories (Airlines / Air Forces)

Please read this. Good idea but as we are only 4 to work regurlaly here ... Is it really useful to add new constraints ? LVCDC 18:19, 16 November 2014 (MST)

Hi Corkeyandpals
I really disagree the new Airline category usage as we don't have the tools to work easily and quickly with more constrains.
Now, every picture uploaded should be categorised by aircraft type, company/air force and eventually its location ? As already written on the forum, as categories are sometimes not the most logical (naming a whole production by the first aircraft of a sub-type with a single airframe built [for ex. : Bloch 150 for the 400+ Bloch 152 built]), this leads to many checks and is too much time consuming !
I'll be OK when the wiki will offer an assistant built up page with drop down lists like | this site (you choose the manufacturer / constructeur and a list of models becomes available). Otherwise, it's too much criteria to check.
And the category section (bottom of each movie page) will become a nightmare, melting aircraft types with airlines (by chance, common locations don't appear there !).
Well ! in one word : good idea but wrong timing !
Regards LVCDC 04:13, 10 December 2014 (MST)
BTW, do you know how many airlines exist / disapear with a name starting by A letter ? nearly 1500 ! The whole list is four times longer ... LVCDC 04:42, 10 December 2014 (MST)
Thanks for your reply - look at my own discussion tab for my last words. LVCDC 09:49, 11 December 2014 (MST)
In order to keep aircraft & airlines categories well splited, I checked the movie pages already updated by Sixcyl and you : I put the airlines at the end of the footnotes, after all the aircraft categories (after all, we are on IMPDB not IMADB, isn't it ?). This will help to check if all categories of each type are well listed especially for the biggest projects as like as Dangers dans le ciel/Mayday. one's hat off! guys ! Many, many thanks ! LVCDC 22:11, 13 December 2014 (MST)

Alright, I've added all of the links. As for adding Flying Businessman, I've honestly never actually added a film to IMCDb, so I'm not sure how to go about it. Maybe ask Sixcyl? Corkeyandpals 02:16, 14 December 2014 (MST)

Images for Deletion

Thanks for getting better images and all your other efforts, but a better method is to "Upload a new version of this file", rather than creating a new one. Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 14:39, 19 January 2015 (MST)

Right, I did that for most of the images on FWA, but some of the earlier ones were .jpgs, and the upload tool wouldn't let me upload a new version in .png. I would've done so if it allowed me to. Corkeyandpals 14:44, 19 January 2015 (MST)

Links between IMCDB and IMPDB (step 2)

Hi Corkeyandpals !

Many thanks ! LVCDC 17:30, 23 January 2015 (MST)

Done. However, the Le serpent on IMCDb is a different version from the one here, so I didn't post the link. And thanks for the heads up about the broken link. Corkeyandpals 21:55, 23 January 2015 (MST)
Thank you, especially about my bad link with Le serpent (now fixed on the IMPDB page).
Bis zum Horizont, dann links! is really an aviation movie with much lesser car action. When I watched the movie, I made a capture (on the discussion tab) which could complete the IMCDB page. Thanks to peto1995 to open my eyes ! Have a nice Week-end ! LVCDC 15:48, 31 January 2015 (MST)

Thanks For Your Sharp Eye !

Thank you to correct the F-84 section on The Hunters. As I'm always working from former page's code, it meant that another one was uncorrect and so I was able to find three other ones. LVCDC 07:41, 9 February 2015 (MST)

Cathay Pacific Airways

Hi Chris. It's great to see you continuing the list of Airlines.
About Cathay Pacific, don't you thing it would be better and more accurate to enter the compagny as Cathay Pacific Airways, as it's the genuine Corporate name of it? Sixcyl 21:14, 3 June 2015 (MDT)

Aye, it probably would. I was going off of Wikipedia's name for it. I'll change 'em then. Corkeyandpals 21:29, 3 June 2015 (MDT)

RE: A Few Things

Added to the sidebar. I have to do the Manufacturer pages individually, so let me know which ones and I'll do it. Thanks for all your efforts. Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 11:08, 16 June 2015 (MDT)

They should all be accessible now.Bthebest - IMPDb Administrator 09:34, 17 June 2015 (MDT)

Braathens

Thanks again for this work dear Corkeyandpal. Do we admit the following rule? Airline name in the category list should be the last name used in the story of a company? even if this one was worn for a short time like in this exemple? Company started as Braathens SAFE, but from 1997 to the end in 2004 , the name was Braathens alone. I know it can be odd some times but it may be better (same rule used by wikipedia btw).Sixcyl 15:25, 7 July 2015 (MDT)

Sure, sounds good. I'll go through and fix the links. Corkeyandpals 15:52, 7 July 2015 (MDT)

Wanted Categories

Hello, Gasp ! WC IMPDB.jpg Some categories have already 60 links and no dedicated page ! BTW, what do you think the better if I built a new page : shall I put a category for any airline or not ? (Look at Gung Ho). But we have the risk of lots of categories with a single link (which is against IMPDB rules...). Regards. LVCDC 06:32, 27 September 2015 (MDT)

Yes, probably best not to add categories for just any airline in new pages, but instead just ones that have either already been created or redlinked. I'll be getting to adding pages for those categories soon, I've been busy with school so I haven't had a lot of time to do so. Corkeyandpals 13:14, 27 September 2015 (MDT)
You're right ! School first as this time will never occured a second time ! And IMCDB is made by enthusiasts, not professionals so some tasks could wait a lot. LVCDC 14:25, 27 September 2015 (MDT)
Thank very much for the effort to complete some Airline Categories. By the way, you have perhaps forgotten to upload the screenshot of the Mitsubishi J8M on War Thunder (category put on the page's bottom but aircraft not found elsewhere). LVCDC 09:21, 29 September 2015 (MDT)
Clarified the J8M issue of War Thunder's talk page. Corkeyandpals 10:07, 29 September 2015 (MDT)
Thank you ! So the Ki-200 was the pending to the J8M ... there is always something to learn every day ! LVCDC 03:28, 8 October 2015 (MDT)

Access to IMPDB

Since nearly ten days, I experienced several times a day this message : "this Wiki has a problem".
All of these bug are short-lived but we are in October and like every year at Fall, I'm frightened of a possible major shutdown of the site. And BtheBest must be very busy; he came a very few times these last six months ...
Any idea ? [same msg post on Sixcyl Talk Page] LVCDC 03:28, 8 October 2015 (MDT)

I don't know how to avoid another shutdown, but in the event that one does happen I've created a backup site here: http://impdb.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page Maybe we can add pages there while the site is down and copy them over once it goes back up? Corkeyandpals 08:51, 8 October 2015 (MDT)

CAAC

Hello Corkeyandpals. Thanks again for the amazing job you do on this site!
I wanted to apologize for "having cut the grass under your foot" when doing the file CAAC instead of Civil Aviation Administration of China. I think it's rather convenient to use the acronym for the Airlines, keeping the developped designation for the administration service itself. I hope it wont upset..Sixcyl 01:53, 14 November 2015 (MST)

Sterling

Sterling Airways beside Sterling Airlines (empty for the moment, but I suggest to keep it in the list), as there is changement of owner, name & logo, and ICAO code after a bankrupcy in 1993.Sixcyl 02:27, 14 November 2015 (MST)

Five Pictures Per Aircraft

Thanks for your work about Flight of the Intruder but why so many screenshots ? 7 for the A-6A and 18 (!) about the A-6E. We are not telling the story through pictures, just identifying aircraft through the most significant shots.
That's why the wiki set this rule : "The number of pictures should be limited to a maximum of 5 per aircraft". And we must keep in mind that the wiki is not infinite (alas !).
Thanks for the effort and long life to our passion ! Regards. LVCDC 13:25, 15 April 2016 (MDT)

IMPDB New Start

Hi Corkeyandpals !
Youre experiencing the same bug : we upload image but they aren't displayed on the page and the "Recent changes" page don't list them. On the movie page, the framework is there but the caption "error 127" is in place of the picture. Neverless, the 'enlarge' button (bottom right) allows to look the full size picture. Do you think better to contact IPMDB brains or to wait a handful days to let them fix the bug ?
BTW, the forum is no longer active (and the link really broken) ...
IMPDB suffured a bug about image resizing. Until the bug is fix, screenshots are display fullsize (without |thumb|500px|, all is right). Regards. LVCDC (talk) 23:59, 26 August 2016 (MDT)

My hope is that the admins know about the bug and are working to fix it, but yes I agree that if it lasts more than a handful of days we should probably contact them. As for the forum, I'm not sure what to do. Again, hopefully they're aware and working on it. In the meantime, thanks for the tip on making images full-sized, I wasn't sure how to work around the problem myself. Corkeyandpals (talk) 22:23, 27 August 2016 (MDT)

Deletion

Please, could you explain on the discussion tab why did you erased Und der Regen verwischt jede Spur. ? Thanks. LVCDC (talk) 06:20, 4 November 2016 (MDT)

Thanks about detecting this "twin" (and faulty) page ! It's better too put somme words about the reason why you ask a page for deletion (this will help Admins in their job). LVCDC (talk) 11:29, 4 November 2016 (MDT)

The Wall (2017)

I see your edit and identification of a Huey. OK for the front but the tail is wrong. Like an Agusta A109 ... Strange, isn't it ? LVCDC (talk) 15:26, 25 September 2017 (MDT)

Huh, I hadn't noticed that. I guess the helicopters are CG then. Corkeyandpals (talk) 17:39, 25 September 2017 (MDT)

La bataille de l'eau lourde / Kampen om tungtvannet

The production is divided equally between France and Norway. The movie has really two titles, not just a translation. That's why I've made two pages, not just a "redirection". The French page has just two lines to explain why without doing a full twin page. So OK to undo your change ? LVCDC (talk) 00:25, 28 September 2017 (MDT)

Ah okay, I'll undo it. Corkeyandpals (talk) 01:37, 4 October 2017 (MDT)
Thanks very much ! LVCDC (talk) 01:48, 4 October 2017 (MDT)

Arsenal Fighters

Hi Corkeyandpals !
I modified Arsenal VG 33 (without dash please) into Arsenal VG 30 Family as explained on the discussion tab of the category. So I will change the page using it but I failed to upload War Thunder (500 Internal Server Error) and so to update it.
By the way, I experienced same bug with other big pages (Wings of Russia or Brána do historie) when I wanted to update them with a new category. Could you please check them, especially Brána do historie ? Many thanks.
Last point, you noticed those new user who are just spam action. Love Krittaya and I are truying to deceive such post and to erase them. I know it's time consuming but I think it's easier to do this as soon as possible to avoid more work in the coming week. This will be greatly appreciated if you'll do this during August. Regards. LVCDC (talk) 05:38, 2 August 2018 (MDT)

Thanks for the Arsenal edit, I figured it should have some kind of series name but wasn't sure what to make it. As for the spam, I'll try to keep an eye on it, but in the meantime I've find a way to at least hide the User page edits in the Recent changes page by setting the "Namespace" entry to "User" and checking "Invert Selection", as seen below.
2018-08-02 14h29 34.jpg
This effectively removes most of the spam from my recent edits feed. Not so much a solution, but it's been nice to just see real edits for a change. Corkeyandpals (talk) 12:49, 2 August 2018 (MDT)
we have two goals : to add new movies; to keep the site really dedicated to aviation movies. Your tip is good for the first one but failed to prevent spam. If some time ago, it was just new pages including link to jewels, sex toys, loan or captcha solver, these last day even some minor change include such links. They are easy to detect : they need to solve the captcha and so are manually done so they require two or three minutes.
The best would be to contact Tleeg, Bthebest or any other admin/webmaster on IMCDB forum and ask them to removed all the DELETION template so their automatic change will failed. BTW when you upload new picture (to replace old PNG ones for example), it would be great to leave such DELETION template on the unused file for a next cleaning. LVCDC (talk) 03:25, 4 August 2018 (MDT)
I've already emailed Tleeg about the spam issue, but unless he or one of the other admins disables new user creation or does something else to prevent this spam, I don't think us constantly adding the DELETION template only to have it edited away shortly after is very effective. The reason I've been using the Hide Users strategy is that it hides the bulk of these edits that most of our users won't see, because they don't come here to visit other users' pages. If, however, a spam page is created in the main site, like a movie or TV show page, users are much more likely to see it, so I think we should mostly focus on that form of spam. And as for the pages that I've uploaded JPG replacement pictures, I've been keeping a list of updated pages that I'll provide the admins if the come back to the site for a cleanup. Corkeyandpals (talk) 01:59, 5 August 2018 (MDT)
I agree with you. LVCDC (talk) 04:14, 5 August 2018 (MDT)

Before the Flood

Are you sure about the Eurocopter AS355 TwinStar of Suncor Energy ? I found no evidence of such twin engine among their fleet and a careful examination of the picture give a single exhaust. LVCDC (talk) 15:00, 18 August 2018 (MDT)

After some research I'm fairly confident that it's an AS355, specifically C-GXNP of Phoenix Heli-Flight. Corkeyandpals (talk) 15:43, 18 August 2018 (MDT)

New Category

Hello,
I'm unable to access to When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions (only 19 KB but it returns a code 500 !). This page is sharing a new Category: the Bell Lunar Landing (R/T) Vehicle. The (R/T) stands for both variant : R = Research; T = Training.
If you are able to modify it, thanks very much ! LVCDC (talk) 19:29, 27 October 2018 (MDT)

New Airline

Hello, I usually don't focused on airline but this time I uploaded a page including a new airline category. But this small carrier had a tumultuous story with lot acquisition, solding, rebranding. I'm nearly lost and I would like to avoid too many micro societies pages. So I wrote this draft. Your advice please (and feel free to change all of it if required). Many thanks ! LVCDC (talk) 15:22, 10 December 2018 (MST)

I think this page looks good! I recall that Sixcyl used to split up airline categories by their different historical names (United Air Lines vs United Airlines, for example), but I thought that this method could get confusing with films that came out around when they transferred from one name to another. I much prefer your method where they're centralized in one category. The one thing I might suggest is adding the logos for the different historical company names. So, for this specific page, have the logo for Air Bridge Carriers in addition to the logo for ASL Aviation. I would also point out that Air Contractors already has a category page, so I'm not sure if that should be folded into this new page or left by itself. Entebbe

Thank you very much for fixing the uncorrect recognition of the BAC One-Eleven ! LVCDC (talk) 04:35, 10 February 2019 (MST)

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown

I'm afraid you missed to upload picture for Boeing AH-64D Apache Longbow & Boeing E-767 ... or are they just needed ? Regards. LVCDC (talk) 02:58, 19 March 2019 (MDT)

Pictures for those two are still needed, I couldn't find any good shots. Corkeyandpals (talk) 17:42, 21 March 2019 (MDT)

Westland Whirlwind

Hi Corkeyandpals !
You recently made a redirect about the Westland Whirlwind ... straight to the helicopter.
But there was too a Westland Whirlwind (fighter) and even if there is not yet a dedicated category, we must think about this possible future [already on IMPDB through War Thunder].
So a disambiguation page should be better.
Same thing for example about F-6 : the Grumman Hellcat or the Photographic Recon variant of the P-51 or the Douglas F4D Skyray (post 1962) ?
Another unpleasant redirection was : X-15. Aircraft or movie ? Regards. LVCDC (talk) 05:29, 7 October 2019 (MDT)

I agree about the Whirlwind, however at present those redirects were leading to the Sikorsky H-19 page, and I thought it best to redirect them to the Whirlwind helicopter for now until we have enough entries to create a category for the Whirlwind fighter, and then create a disambiguation.
However, I only noticed and modified those because they were preexisting. We haven't really been keeping up with creating redirects and disambiguations for new categories, though I think it'd be a good idea, for example as you mentioned for F-6. Corkeyandpals (talk) 14:31, 7 October 2019 (MDT)

Uncompleted Movies

Hi !
I'm very surprise you posted new page with uncomplete data found on IMCDB. Our friend in love with cars aren't enough aviation enthusiast for some of them to catch all the planes found in a movie.
So it's not a waste of time to search the movie on the web and browse it quickly (x2 speed for airport and tarmac actions; scrolling the rest with the button). You will often find additional planes and sometimes even the main one ! (ex.: the Piper in Die Lady aus dem Weltraum).
Otherwise, what's the point of doing this wiki?
For the lurkers, it's probably more pleasant to find a page completed, with lots of aircraft rather the 700th movie including just a short action with a Jumbo Jet.
BTW, you're right about Cherry 2000, so I just made an undo and the quest is still open.
Regards. LVCDC (talk) 01:20, 6 June 2020 (MDT)

I generally agree with your point, but I usually reserve checking a film for myself if I’m taking the pictures from the background of car images on IMCDb, rather than if the poster makes a comment containing aircraft pictures and specifically referencing aircraft or IMPDb. While the IMCDb posters might not catch every frame of aircraft in their movies, I trust them to have at least picked out the most important shots/planes. Since I’m trying to work through the ~2 year backlog of IMCDb comments for us, speed and efficiency is more my focus than complete thoroughness. Of course, if you ever suspect a page to be incomplete you’re more than welcome to add to it, but for the time being I plan to mostly stick to what the IMCDb users provide. Page with Broken Links

Hello ... IMPDB is not on the top since several weeks ...
Several pages you made were under the 'Pages with broken file links' section but only Sora Tobu Kôhôshitsu really need additional data (pix). And one Spitfire is missing on Warlords of Sigrdrifa ... but as you can read on the discussion tab, the 'various' section could be upgraded and get good caption with some numbering.
I can't upload the missing picture but the other pages have been saved again and that's over now.

Aircraft Pictures from IMCDB

Hello Chris. While IMPDB has a permanent problem with editions of pictures for many weeks, I'm working on continuing collecting all aircraft pictures provided by our friends of IMCDB pages, in order to be able one time to open new pages of film on the site. The job is hudge as you know... I've controlled and uploaded on my disk all pictures available and non present on IMPDB within the period between today= 2021-03-24 and 2015-04-12... plus the period between the first post of IMCDB 2004-08-03 and 2006-02-22. I can observe that most of aircraft pictures I met have been already transfered on IMPDB... Therefore, could you tell me if you have already controlled and uploaded pictures provided on IMCDB in the period between 2015-04-12 and 2006-02-22?...or should I continue to srutinize every page of the period?. Thanks. Best regards sixcyl 24/03/2021 20:58.

I have a fairly comprehensive record of IMCDb pages with aircraft photos that still need to be added here through about mid-2018, and I'm decently confident we've added most of the pages from before then going back to maybe 2013-2014. Before then, though, I'm not 100% sure. I've gone back and searched through them a few times so I might have a few saved, but I'm not confident I have all of them.
Have you been searching for pages by going through each and every one of them on IMCDb and looking for aircraft visually? If so, just an FYI that it might be easier to use the comment search function instead and search terms like "IMPDB" or "Aircraft". There might be a few pictures with aircraft in the background you could miss doing this but it'd save you a lot of time and effort. Corkeyandpals (talk) 00:36, 25 March 2021 (MDT)
Hi Corkey and Sixcyl
Don't forget that our friends of IMCDB are mainly focused on cars and miss all aircraft (quite rare), sometimes some aircraft and often sub-variant or various registration ... because they are less in confidence with aircraft most of the time. A special attention to s31a who never miss an aircraft. About other Helpers/Contributors, you might watch at least trailers as a quick check (as aircraft are often part of the advertising... and so realise how sometimes there are a lot missing !). Regards. LVCDC (talk) 02:43, 25 March 2021 (MDT)
Thanks Guys! ... Therefore I'm going to dig again in the period 2015-2006 ... I prefer to do it visually since it is the best way to get 100% of what has been recorded by IMCDbers who not always alert of aircraft pictures. It will be loOOOONNNg ... but never mind. Regards sixcyl 25/03/2021 18:02.

Agusta-Bell 412HP CC-12

Hi Corkey
in
Il maresciallo Rocca (1996-2005)
Ep. 5.05 (so 2000/2001)
we see Agusta-Bell 412HP CC-12

In La destinazione (2003)
there is too an Agusta-Bell 412HP CC-12

Is it really the same ?

I don't think so as a first CC-12 was written off on 30 October 2000

Check the helo on Il maresciallo Rocca : under the nose is a FLIR camera missing on the CC-12 seen three years later.
The two searchlights could be added or removed easyly and so aren't a key factor about identification.
But a FLIR device is much more complex and it would be very surprising if this equipment was removed.
That's why I think we see two different machines and I would like to delete the 'Frequently Seen Aircraft' label.
What is your opinion ?

BTW, many thanks to have revamped L'épopée des pionniers de l'aviation dans les Caraïbes ! LVCDC (talk) 03:29, 22 December 2021 (MST)

Fair point, that episode of Il maresciallo Rocca aired in 2005 so I figured it must be the second CC-12, but I suppose it could be stock footage. I'll remove the Frequently Seen entry. And you're welcome! Corkeyandpals (talk) 17:07, 22 December 2021 (MST)
Actually nevermind, I found this photo of MM81515 from 2005 (around when this episode aired) showing it equipped with that same central FLIR camera seen in the episode. Perhaps it is easier to equip/remove than we think? Corkeyandpals (talk) 17:23, 22 December 2021 (MST)

Chronicle Mysteries & Ragazze d'oggi

Hi Corkeyand pals !
You've uploaded this page with the "fill-in-the-blank" template ... what's missing? Do you have the image or not?
This summer, I'm trying to reduce the three categories of "things to do" (Unfinished pages / Pages under construction / Recent publications); check the Community portal.
Even with my own pages, it's hard to know / remember what's missing! This makes it more difficult for everyone to guess what's driving the original contributor to use such a template, and to help them complete their page.
A little text in the Discussion tab could tell what's needed (type of aircraft (if known); timing uncovered; etc...), and that could be a big help. Especially after years of forgetting about the work (the oldest dates back to 2013!).
On the other hand, Ragazze d'oggi is fine as we know what is missing. Regards. LVCDC (talk) 07:55, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

I'll be finishing both of those pages myself when I have access to copies of them and a screenshotting tool (probably this weekend). Will removed the Unfinished tags then. Corkeyandpals (talk) 12:49, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

Fandom and (c)

Hi Corkeyandpals
I notice you take great care to thank each IMCDB contributors. I do too. It's the least we can do.
So why on Fandom you don't ? Especially with my own work.
Please rectify by indicating "source LVCDC" or the original contributor.
So if I'm using data from an external contributor: "source JCC via LVCDC" as this is the case for Un taxi dans les nuages (https://impdb.fandom.com/wiki/Un_taxi_dans_les_nuages).
Otherwise "source LVCDC" for these pages (just four examples from the 1,800 films I've personally watched (adding pix and data to some 230 movies already on IMPDB)) :
https://impdb.fandom.com/wiki/Top_Gun:_Maverick (even though you contributed a few details - and I thank you for that - to around 10% of the final result on IMPDB);
https://impdb.fandom.com/wiki/Taiheiy%C5%8D_no_kiseki:_Fokkusu_to_yobareta_otoko (despite you changed the synopsis, the pix are the exactly same! So please, mention "screenshots by courtesy of LVCDC");
https://impdb.fandom.com/wiki/Tactical_Assault (online eight years after my original work here);
https://impdb.fandom.com/wiki/Cast_Away (online six years after the work post here);
It would be nice if you could do this at least for the most important pages and those dedicated to purely aviation films.

Regards. LVCDC (talk) 08:33, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

My view is that crediting the original source of the images on at least one of the two sites is sufficient. The Fandom site is intended a backup more than anything, and I've added source info only for contributions made while the main site is down and that info is therefore not available elsewhere. However, if you feel strongly about being credited personally there, I invite you to add your name to those pages. Otherwise, tell me what pages you want credit for and I will add comments noting that when I have time. Corkeyandpals (talk) 17:24, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
I rarely go to Fandom, which I find less user-friendly. And I bet some Fandom readers never come here!
But when Google returns my work posted elsewhere than IMPDB "source", I check.
As already stated, for major films where I've done a lot of work (see above, for example Top Gun: Maverick ; https://impdb.fandom.com/wiki/6_Underground too), I think it's the least you can do. Some example :
Even more so with friends who have provided me with screenshots : Please be kind to add "source JCC via LVCDC" for :
This would be greatly appreciated. Regards. LVCDC (talk) 08:16, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
Many, many thanks for the upgrade done. LVCDC (talk) 07:49, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
This rule also applies to any new page put online based on my original work (e.g. Wings of Russia... well... the whole 3 pages set, thanks). Please don't forget it! LVCDC (talk) 07:42, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

Devotion

On completion, I found among the credits an Ad-4W and put it online. But the Skyraider's action during the bombing raid had not the specific lines of the -W variant, so I erased your comment.
You put it again online, giving the source. Thanks ! but it's just a line without facts.
Please read the Talk:Devotion to choose between the 1st or the 2nd option. Regards. LVCDC (talk) 13:14, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
