May 1969. The 3rd Battalion of the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division have been tasked with taking Hill 937 near the Laos border. The operation is a meat-grinder, as unit after unit is decimated in futile assaults. For this reason the hill is known by troops as Hamburger Hill. The film follows a platoon in its efforts to take the hill.
