Movie (1947)

Kelly Jordan and Andy Melton are former AAF fliers operating a cargo service over the South American mountain ranges in order to get enough money to return in the USA and make their own company. Andy got killed in a plane crash and so Kelly is involved in the robbery of a Latin American mine. Having been taken hostage, he must pilot the plane used to escape, but is unable to prevent the crash.


Douglas C-47 Skytrain

Reg. NC56780 Douglas C-47 Skytrain s/n 41-18523 (c/n 4615) to USAAF on first September 1942. Fly first with 317th TCG (Troop Carrier Group) from October 1942. Back in the USA on August 1944 then managed by the RFC (Reconstruction Finance Corporation) on 14 November 1945.
To civil registry as NC88876 (Paul Mantz Air Services) then NC56780 before being registered on Brazilian registries as PP-XDG (1949), PT-AEC (1950) and PP-YQQ (from 1954 for Real Transportes Aéreos becoming Varig on August 1961). Cancelled on 29 May 1970 and broken up.

Unidentified Aircraft

Close to the Spartan Executive but the rearest triangular window is missing.

Spartan Executive

36 Spartan Executive were manufactured from 1936 to 1940 by Spartan Aircraft Company (not the British Spartan !).

Reg. NC17658 Spartan Executive c/n 27. Delivered in the first days of 1940 and still on the US air registry (last owner bought it in 2022).
