March 1945 : Fightings of the U.S. 9th Armored Division trying to cross the Rhine river but nearly all bridges are destroyed by the German troops. At Remagen, the Ludendorff Bridge is the last one... On the other side, for the Wehrmacht and the Nazis, this bridge is just as important and must be destroyed.
North American TB-25N Mitchell
In the 60s, Warbirds weren't regarded with the attention they're given today. Those in flying condition were rare especially twin-engine ones. So the production did with the few possibilities at that time.
Only one North American B-25 Mitchell was used with unconvicing result to duplicate action in order to create a mass raid.
Reg. N86427 on the tail denotes North American TB-25N s/n 44-29121... with not a single machine gun, wearing the red dot in the heart of the US roundel (which was eliminated in May 1942). So still in a color scheme commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Doolittle raid (April 1967 !).
Same aircraft in other movies at Frequently Seen Aircraft (Military Fixed-Wing).
North American P-51 Mustang
(right) Wearing the US roundel on both intrados ... US Army Air Corps did it no more from February 1941 !
