USS Akron at Camp Kearny in San Diego on the morning of 11 May 1932. When maneuvering the mooring cable, most of the mooring crew released their lines although four did not. 2 men died.

Bellanca J-3-500
Italian General Francesco de Pinedo attempted to take off from Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York, on 2 September 1933 for his flight to Baghdad with his Bellanca overloaded with fuel, he lost control of the aircraft and perished in the resulting fire, which also destroyed the plane.
